912 1966 project value?

Hi all looking for some advice on the value of my 1966 912 tangerine .

It has flared fibreglass arches but I do have used rear quarters (flat sided) and some extra front wings which would require work if used . The car requires floors , parcel shelf and some rust in the front area all the usual spots. I have most of the Interior but it in poor condition and will need trimming . The engine is disassembled but with matching numbers some items cleaned lots of parts . Gearbox is 5speed. Spent most of its life in California

Mostly every is there minus one rear bumper quarter.

Another project has come my way so I may be considering moving this on . What I'm looking for is a guide on its value , any ideas . If I choose to sell I will list it here and eBay

Difficult to know from your description, maybe add some pics if you get time. It certainly sounds like a project car that needs a full resto so I'd suggest its value is probably somewhere around the 10k mark. It may be worth speaking to max at revival cars, he's usually pretty clued up on values.

Not trying to be negative but that doesn't sound like a fun project for somebody. Missing body parts, engine build needed. new floors and interior trimming. Given that you can buy a nice 66 for £25-35k. Lets work backwards from 35k?

Engine -12
body bits -5
spray -4
assemble -4
interior -3

total = -28k

7k?

Etc. would achieve 35k .?

It's about right. Exceptional stuff is more, but you'd have to spend well over that money to get it there. Nicely restored cars are £25-35k.

If you want to sell, I'd go the eBay route - some optimist will pay way over the odds for it

Ive completely lost track on values. Where are all the $6k 912's???

oh in my garage phew I did some thing right in the past..

But really boy!!! wow!! seen the price of cars of late... this has got to correct it's self soon surely...

Nutty prices, we were the lucky ones, seven years ago you had a choice of 912's in the States for under $10,000. I've just made a fool of myself buying a Volvo PV544 living in Calafornia, the next thing to have you know. Described as solid floors, that's because somebody has screwed sheets of timber into them

I can testify you can still find them for 10k but they are going to need a little work...., nevermind we needed something to do this winter

One of the things you also need to consider is the way you are going about the build. When I said a nice example could make £35k that is for a properly sorted car. I understand that you are trying to get the most value for your money but your idea of having a part timer build the engine will mean a significantly different resale value then a PRS (other good engine builders are available) built engine.

I guess I'm saying that unless you can do most of the work yourself there isn't much money in car restoration
