Removing chrome bars from the engine lid grille

Post by yoda »

Hi

Is there a way to remove just one of the horizontal chrome bars on the engine lid grille without disassembling the whole thing? Its a standard 5 bar engine grille and it look like it will prize away from the rest of the grille but wanted to check if there was a proper way to do it before attempting.

Thanks

Feroz

Hi Feroz

Yes each of the bars are crimped onto the vertical bars.

Each bar is u shaped. If you carefully open up the silver bar you want to remove from the underside it will come off.

I refitted and re crimped mine and it's not moved since.

Try not to bend the anodised bar too much as it will mark it.

Kind regards.

Hi John

Thanks for the feedback, will give it a go. One of the bars is well out of line with the others for some reason so just wanted to straighten that one up. Probably better if I take it off and give it a clean up at the same time.

Wanted to check if there was a technique before I make a mess of something - will watch out for the anodised bar!

Kind regards

They are all numbered Feroz so you should be able to get an exact replacement if the worst happens.
