Hi Rich,
I agree, will probably leave the engine lid alone for now. Still more work on the electrics. The plan is to finish brakes, fuel lines next week and oil lines soon after and get the whole car to my friends garage to do an initial check over and hopefully fire the engine up!

Seem to struggle with having parts when needed. I order parts I don't need early and they sit around, and never have the ones I do want. Also over and under order. I have been meaning to order the 16 anti-vibration shims but at an over the top price of £5 to £7 each I just cant justify pushing the button. Just ordered a guide plate shim for front brake at a ridiculous £33 and a load of 8 mm hard/ soft fuel lines, stainless P clips, battery terminal covers, rubber grommets for the bulkheads etc.

But hey its great when the postman brings the parcels

The list of things to do stands at 61, which is higher than it was last week!

Not sure what to suggest??

Not a fan of glue or self adhesive when around engine bay heat. I'm my experience it either drys the glue out or just soften's it up for it to fall down onto the engine causing more problems. Maybe run without and see how it goes??

Don't know if its relevant but I have heat resistant cloth on the underside of my thin grp lid, no issues in 7000 miles. Glued with megavanmats heat tolerant trim glue.

Hi Andy,
I think it would be about the best way to go, using a heat resistant cloth. I thought I had enough of the cloth material used elsewhere in the engine bay, but now looks a bit short. Good to know it works without any issues.

Quick update. Having received a load of parts progress as moved on quite well recently. with loads of small jobs getting closer to the finish line.

All the brake calipers are fitted and torqued down to 85N, hard brake lines and flexibles are fitted, leaving the anti vibration shims and pads. Fitting pads at this stage may make pushing the car around difficult.

The hard fuel line front to back is fitted with P clips and grommets through bulk heads. I have a new 12v facet pump and fuel regulator which I can set between 1 and 5 psi. Waiting for delivery of an AN4 90 degree fitting for the bottom of the fuel cell to finish off fuel supply.

I spent ages fixing the fuse board down, unfortunately its crooked, moving electric wires around and fixing to bulk heads with stainless P clips, as the sticky pad tie wrap clips just fall off!

This mostly leaves me with oil lines and host of small jobs

The plan is to take the car around my friends garage to get front and rear suspension geometry set, machine front wheel spacers, finish brakes, clutch, fit carbs, new Stromski chain tensioners, electricals and then fire up the engine!

I should then have a movable car but not ready for the test just yet. That will involve a lot of small detailed improvements/ changes and covering everything in rubber!

Hello, latest update;
All the jobs are now getting smaller and very time hungry.

Especially when you do them twice. So repositioned the fuse board and is square in the recess;



Managed to get the engine lid catch to work at last and make a stay. Used the left over mini hinge brackets, length of threaded rod and stainless steel tube to make up a engine lid stay. Need to work on the contact point with the lid to prevent the wind lifting it and causing any damage;

Quite on here for the last few weeks. I have still been working on loads of very small detail changes, improvements which don't really look much different in a pic. Still, received the headlight this morning which fitted nicely







Whole car off to friends on the 3rd July to get the engine fired up

Looking good Mate!

I went up to see Gary in early May, quite impressed in the set up there. Had a conversation regarding the scuby set up and he is planning alterations to the chassis to accommodate this at some stage but not given any timescale.

Good luck with firing up the engine ...... always an exciting time!

Interesting comparison to the shape of the wings and were lights are etc to an original coupe.
