69 912 door key

I have only one door key for my car which fits the drivers door but will not work the passenger side. I have the handle and barrel out but cannot see any numbers anywhere. Is it possible to get a key cut?

Just about any lock smith will do it for you. My local one had to send away for blanks but another one near my work had them in stock. Here is the one close to work

I think the problem is the existing key doesn't work, therefore getting another cut as a copy of the first one is unlikely to sort the issue.

For early swb cars the 3 digit key code is scribed into the end of the lever arm on the lock. (see photo below) I think it was only present on the drivers door handle, but I might be wrong there.
Unless you have reason to believe the key you have is worn then getting another cut to the code is unlikely to open the other one. Is there any indication the passenger handle might have been changed? It is relatively easy to remove the tumbler and have it 're-keyed' to fit your key and this is what I'd suggest. Take the handle and your key to a locksmith and ask him/her to do this. If you want to remove the tumbler first then do a google search or search Pelican/here or 911S registry.

The re tumblering seems to be the best idea Mick. I have a good locksmith shop locally a spare key blank, the original passenger door key and both door handles off....apparently it's foolproof !! Ha ha ha, knowing my luck. I will report back tomorrow
