surrey newbie to 914's

Post by Benters »

Hi to all

I love the older classic cars, and having been to a few air cooled shows here and there with my VW Splitty bus loving nephew I have seen a few 914's and grown quite keen to know more about them.
First off they appear to be pretty rare in the UK, and that attracts me as I prefer the slightly less obvious cars. Secondly I have no need for more than two seats, thirdly, its a Porsche, fourthly, the roof comes off, which is always a good thing, fifthly. . .who needs more than four reasons !

So, whilst I have only seen a couple up close, I thought I would see If there was any info on the web, and more importantly a devoted owner near to me who can let me see a car in the flesh and have a nosey. . . .I am more than happy to buy the beers for a good look over a car. So if anyone is Surrey based and can spare an hour or so one evening then please get in touch.

It's not in Surrey but if you come along to Stanford Hall this weekend there will be quite a few 914s in attendance. If that is too far then Classic at the Castle in Essex is a good place to see cars and chat to owners.

Hi Benters,
There seems to be a little 914 stronghold in the south and a couple of owners in Surrey. Stanford hall usually attracts the biggest UK turnout of the year due to its more central location than most shows so if you can excuse yourself on Sunday it would be great. You will find four or five 914s at Classics at the castle most years but that's not until September.
Alternatively, pop over to Munich in June as there'll be 100 914s at the International meeting including about 10 from the UK.
914KEV lives near Sutton and will talk 914s until you wish you never asked! ;-)
Happy hunting
