Spent the day wiring in new rear lights, checking the alternator connections and removing rear bumper (aaarrrggghhhh!) in readiness for Bob Watson to come and (finally, I hope) fix the oil leak.

Celebrated 30 years (almost to the exact day !!) since I purchased it ... by going out for a wee run in it .
Usual story - does not move for a month ... starts first turn of the key , and away we go ! Off motorcycling in USA for a month on Monday , so all on hold.

Yep, drinking beer was definitely a good job!

No more leaks. Now discovered a possible fault with the rebuilt alternator – the D+/61 terminal is leaking 12v back to the regulator whether the engine is running or not. Result: flat battery if car left for a day or so. Need to look into that.

Wished I was in the 911 instead of the Volvo whilst on the A85 from Oban to Edinburgh this morning. Only had to overtake 3 camper vans and an old boy in a Merc. Bliss. And on Tuesday night where I saw circa a dozen cars on the road when en route from Port Glasgow to Oban. I've never ever wanted to turn around and drive a section of road again before but those sweeping bends from the Green welly shop were just fantastic. If I wasn't so late (left port Glasgow at 8PM) then I would have. An awesome 2 and a bit hours drive. Awesome. A dry road and a stunning main beam meant I had confidence in seeing where I was going and press on where appropriate. Did I mention awesome?

Drove to Roger Bray's open day in Whimple. There were some beautiful examples of 356s in various stages of restoration. There were visitors from as far afield as Kent & Middlesex. The weather stayed (almost) dry & the barbeque was delicious. A very enjoyable & informative day.
Thank you Roger!

A bevy of assorted air-cooleds in attendance:

....obviously helps having a proper template kit loaned to you from Visual FX (cheers Garry  ) plus an early car for reference and a spare shell in the garage to make templates not normally needed!

I'll leave the actual fitting for those more talented!

Cheers,
