Thanks for the info Jamie.

I also looked at the Handling solutions jig but wasn't sure how I would lift the shell to the jig.
They said they did a self loader tool but I didn't get any details as to how that worked. Did you get this option?

Also what mounting points does the jig use to attach to the car and how well does it balance?

I might need to get one for my body shop - maybe first dibs on yours if you are thinking of selling.

Hmm. The thing about Aetna Blue is that I've never seen it before, and I really like it.

Andrew - I bought the self-loader too. It does the job. The brackets for the jig attach at the bumper-mountings front and rear. You need spacers on the bolts at the rear to stop it fouling the bodywork.

I have mine sort of balanced, but it wants to tip the right way up. Even out of balance, it's pretty easy to spin the thing around. There are lots of adjustment holed to alter the position of the pivot relative to C of G. The only reason I haven't adjusted mine is laziness.

The title of this thread is misleading 'Back in Beige' and now you want to paint it blue..... :(

Aetna / beige / polo / etc. take your pick of whatever takes your fancy. But choose from the period (ish). A modern fashion colour / finish will date whereas a period colour is always going to sit well with the period design.

Nick - it does. I think (hope) it's the camera(phone) lying. It looks like there were two matching SWB grilles on the car the day I bought it...
That's the perspective thing, always had problems with that in art classes.

Looks great, should have just left it!

Only kidding, you've put in some imense work, hats off to you, and will be very rewarding when finished.

Sand beige is one of those colours that actually looks better under our dull cloudy skies than in the sun imho so you can enjoy all year round!

I used to read long threads about people deliberating over colour choices and think 'FFS man up, you are boring'.

And now I am one of them. I think about what colour I'd like the car to be more than I think about shagging. As a bloke, I'm statistically obliged to think about shagging 2427 times a day, or something. And now all that brainpower is taken up by 'do I want a brown car, or a blue car, or a silver car?' Or occasionally 'hey, how about a yellow car? Nah, not a yellow one'.

Idiot.

Ha!
And most finish up with the original colour!

I went from Viper green to Champagne yellow purely because lighter colours don't show off my 'skill' in DIY body prep and DIY spraying!

Have always liked Aga blue

But as you are going 100pc hotrod rather than original I wonder have you considered a frosted finish like the latest "frozen silver" m5?

I think that would be mega

Now that it has to be a 912 colour but here are the options!
