I just completed the market-research type questionnaire that Goodwood sent me. One did jump out - a mention that 'due to the growing popularity' of the event there is a 'possibility' that it will be made members only in future, and was I interested in GRRC membership?

Now I had assumed that the event would be members only in the first place (which was why I chose a poor boys tour to Essen in 2014 instead), so I was surprised to be offered a ticket a few weeks before the event via the regular mailing list. And this year I just strolled up to the ticket office 10 days before the event and bought my tickets there.

Do you think there really is a good chance the MM will become members only, or will Lord M's business plan struggle without non-members like me paying their £75/day plus food etc.? There were certainly suggestions that last year's Members meeting didn't wash its face.

I'll admit, that while I'm local I've never really seen the value of GRRC membership, but if there's a chance to stand in the bitter March winds again and watch top-quality classic racing without suffering the curse of the Revival's overcrowding I might have to reconsider.

Can't see it paying without non members. I am a member in a family group and am currently questioning the value I get pretty sure I'd get what I want without an annual fee. Our experience of the Revival , and we've been going since day one, is that its far from overcrowded, as soon as you get more than 1/2 way down the straight or over to St Mary's theres loads of room ...just fewer sideshows.

Sadly that car ( Lister Jag) is owned by a friend of mine ... just heard about it .He had an other car at the event a Cooper Bristol .Both are owned by Barry Wood it was his son Tony who was in the Jag .

In the few pictures I've seen (such as the above), there was no sign of the Lister's driver holding his arm aloft to say 'I'm pitting'. Also, in the first pic, the Lister seems to be at a fairly aggressive angle to the track (late move?), although I suspect it was the moment the impact happened, kicking the Lister's tail round to the left. Thoughts of Macklin/Hawthorn here – but the proximity of the pit entry to the chicane exit has always been a concern to me at Gooders, especially as most drivers cross the pit lane markings when coming out of the chicane.

I read somewhere that the Mercedes was slowing down to enter the pit lane as the Lister cut across it. If so. then sure the Merc was going way to fast to enter the pitlane if it was locked up just before the point of contact. They are not my pictures (obviously way too good), but I heard the thump from the paddock.

I was told there was a hold up in the pit area for some reason and the marshal had his back to the Lister as it entered so would not have seen him enter the area .A sad end to a race and the damage was substantial and is in the process of being sorted out .
