What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

Picked up a crack on one of the headlights enroute to Spa back in 2013.....thought it was about I fixed it



The offending crack...


After measuring the length of all the adjustment screws, I disassembled the lights and found that there was abit more wear and tear hidden from view...

Rusty bowls...


Cracked seals...


Knackered adjustment screws...



So bowls were prepped and resprayed metallic silver...


New lenses ordered, new seals and adjustments screws. With everything given a good clean, they are good to be put back together...


All fitted, bright and shiny ...


Also fitted some mesh horn grills, just fancied a change.....I"ve got abit of time on my hands at the moment, but I will save that for another time


Whilst I was at it, I replaced the gearbox Oil and Engine Oil. Replaced the Oil filter and replenished with some fresh 20-50...


Took a short trip to the petrol station to adjust the tyre pressures after the winter lay up of 50 PSI ! and then took a slightly extended route back home.....looking forward to an early spring morning drive tomorrow, without having to rush to get to work

I had the day off today and wanted to try and get my gearbox oil changed too. Historit at Bicester Heritage Centre now have a rent ramp:



Unfortunately, whoever was in there before me has mullered the drain plug and I didn't take enough brute force equipment to get it free. I'll have to revisit it again soon.

The heritage centre is a properly cool place, once it's all finished it will be a great place to meet up and kick tyres. Lots going on there.

Went looking for my 911 hotrod mojo today with a solo run to Oulton Park and the RS day.
Left home right after the wonderful Eclipse of the sun and followed the huge tractors and truck almost all the way to Oulton....

However, this trip was to ride the car and get the new Rennshift in my mind.
I have NEVER had a run where the 915 has NEVER baulked, mis-shifted and been a pain until today.

A zillion gear shifts all through the box in this 20 to 70 mph traffic and not one cock-up, it is a revelation.

RS day was great, some DDK cars there with no owners, the GT3's are out of this world and some so fast.
Car park was the best bit.
Left to go to Demon Tweeks to buy a new pair of race overalls so another traffic run west from the track.

Came home the scenic way and was dismayed at the poor dangerous and disregarding driving of some, mainly little white van 'men' and a real CoCk of a bald-headed BMW 850i driver who wanted to polish my rear number plate at 60mph. Wonder what his story line will be in the bar tonight?

Had 6 close encounters like that going home!

This car is great in the pictures, but my, so good in the metal, one of my fav 911's.

I also went to Oulton Park, the journey there was great, the roads were reasonably quiet, but the journey home was a pain, typical Friday afternoon stop start.

Went for a short 230 mile drive around North Wales with a few guys from work. It was a early start meeting in Conway at 8:00am...!

Visited the usual spots, Llanberis, Ffestiniog, Evo Triangle, Horseshoe pass:

Good to finally get the car warmed through properly, although the 6500rpm lift off smoke is getting excessive! Doesn't bother me, just the people following...

Had a day at Oulton yesterday with John and his mate ...

Managed one leg of the the triangle before the weather closed in followed by an overnight stop in deepest Wales ....







Early start this morning then a spirited run down the A5 . Spotted Feroz and co going the other way .

Finished off at the track day on Anglesey .

Took a run out in the 914 down to Burton Upon Trent today with some Porsche friends. Enjoyed lunch and a tour round the National Brewery Centre. Worth a visit. Weather was decent enough to have the top off enjoying the sunshine over snake pass on the way back. Rumour has it Spring has arrived.

Went out in the 911 with the wife today to swoon over the new gear shifter and no cursing from me.

Severn Valley Steam Festival this weekend, so off to the county in the traffic but so very nice...

Have to rewind to Friday 20th which was the Oulton Park RS trackday . The early morning was sunny and bright , so had to get the cars out to get at my track wheels for the 964 which was going to be taking part- had driven it up from London the day before on road tyres and now needed grippy ones for the unusually dry NW conditions.




A good day at Oulton in the 964 but weather deteriorated so left early in order to drive down to Goodwood for the 73rd Members Meeting Saturday / Sunday . Got back to my house and had to decide whether to refit the road wheels to the 964 and then carry on with the 200 mile journey back to London......

OR.....to leave the 964 in Cheshire and use the 356 for the trip instead !

A quick repacking of the luggage and off in the 4 pot for the joy of the M6 on a late Friday afternoon , that's more like the DDK way

Pulled out the Hillclimb car on Saturday, found the 914/6 in the back of the garage........


Removed the competition stickers from the 914/6, washed and cleaned it, quick run to fill up with petrol and check oil level, then off to Gretton (near Prescott) on Sunday for a great lunch with a bunch of Porsche hillclimbers............!
