Amount of oil in engine

Post by MikeB »

There are approx 10 litres of oil in the complete system of an SC engine

If you drained the engine, what sort of quantity would you expect to be in it?
Cheers

More like 13 litres for the whole system if I remember correctly.

You will only need approximately 10 litres for an oil change though.

Mike for a 3.0 SC there should be around 13 litres in the complete system including oil lines and front cooler.

10 litres is the quantity you typically need for an oil change as around 3 litres stays in the system.

If you drain the tank you will remove around 6/7 litres and normally find 2-3 litres in the engine.

If there is more in the engine than the pump clearance may have opened up a little and allowed the tank contents to drain into the cranckcase.

Sorry to repeat but posted at around the same time

Cheers guys

A couple of extra litres added, the tank gauge is happy.
