A Dream Fullfilled - My 904FF

Post by Kirklands 904 »

It was suggested by "Lightweight_911" that I should join DDK to continue the story that I started on the website of the "Carerra GTS Club" which is dedicated to the 904 and replicas. It would appear that this web site is about to go off air and I was searching round for a suitable place to continue my story about building a fake 904 from scratch. You will note that I call my "project" a 904 FF . Well, the second "F" is for "Fake". I leave it to your imagination what the first "F"stands for!

As some of you will know "Lightweight_911" was the owner of a most delightful 904 replica which had been built up from a Martin and Walker offering. Those of you who saw it at the Classic Car Show auction at the NEC will appreciate what a beautiful job had been made of it which was demonstrated by the enthusiasm of its new owner.

My story is how over a 12 year period I built a look-alike 904 from scratch using parts from a 914 as much as I could. Once I work out how to get photographs into the story I shall start the saga again in the "Replicas" section under the same title.

Welcome and look forward to reading your build story.

There's a thread at the top of the General Chat section explaining how to host and post images

Just to give a flavour of the story, this is the 914 I bought many years ago to use as a donor car.

Many years later it had transformed into the 904FF

I shall start the story on the replica section under the same title.

Hi Bill!

Happy New Year! Looking forward to another beer or two (or three!) throughout the season. Are you going to bring your 904 down to Shelsley?

I had a super Christmas present from Margaret - a 30 x 20 enlargement of John Crae's photo -

Our other Classic racer says "Hello" as well................

Jonathan

Happy New Year to you and yours including all four legged members of the Williamson clan.

Thank you for your kind remarks in the other thread. I think drink must have been taken.

I am thinking of bringing the FF to Shelsley. It should be eligible to be a Shelsley Special

Cheers
