Hi Mike

I am in no rush to aquire a set of original 67S RHD lenses as I will probably not be needing them for 2 yrs or more, but given the rarity of original RHD 67S lenses, what would you recommend if I cannot locate a set of 67S RHD lenses.....

thanks
Mark

Hi Mark

You could buy lenses as in Nick's set in this thread. Available as originals on various sites in Rhd as originals or repros. Worked for Lyvie!
You could fit a sealed beam light unit with a clear lens in front (as on many US early 911's including the 67S) which might fit your existing units with the appropriate bucket (I don't know what you have at present).
You could fit H4 lights/lenses in Rhd which are easier to get but wouldn't be period correct but many early cars have them.
You could fit Rhd H1 lights which would be nearer in period (from 68) but are very expensive and also virtually impossible to find.
You could fit a set of cibie biodes in Rhd which were used on many competition cars at the time.

There is a thread on the early s registry which explains a simple home made conversion of 356 lights to early 911 lights which I will try and find.

The big issue of course is the rarity of the Rhd market and that's why these options are all more difficult than the lhd market.

If I see anything I will pass it on to you but, like everything else in this area, it will take a while if it comes up at all.

Regards
Mike

I think the link Mike is referring to is here

Some useful info collated there so hope it helps.

That's the one Andrew, thanks.

Food for thought Mark. Plenty of options but only one is truly correct. You will spend years trawling for a set of those lenses and pay a fortune for them when you find a Rhd set. Once you have them you might even be tempted to keep them safe in a box because they are so valuable and run H4's anyway in case they get broken!! Such is life. (which is why I run the lhd lenses and don't worry so much, it was only recently that James Hot66 confirmed that I could pass an mot with lhd prism blocking stickers on lhd lenses).

Mike
