Newb saying hi! :)

Post by Dave911 »

Hi guys,
Just a quick note to say hi and thanks for a cool forum. I'm Dave, from Southern Ireland. Been a vw man for 10yrs. Plenty of mk2 golf gtis. I was content until my friend Martin(Madness on here) started collecting 911s and now I want one :P
I don't yet have one but I'm looking to pick up probably an ib with the view of a back date. Long hoods are too hard to find in reasonable condition/money so the ib route may be best.

Well, that's all for now. Hopefully I'll pick up something soon and I'll start a thread. Until then I'll stick around and learn about them :)

Thanks,
Dave

Welcome Dave, I've just signed in to as a newby, like you I wanted a porker so I bought the first one I could afford, IB 1976, to me a porsche is a 911, in whatever form it comes, I just feel so lucky to have a car as early is now way out of my reach.
Good luck with whatever you buy.

Thanks for the welcome lads :)
I agree Ron, a porsche is a porsche - early or late :) they're getting awkward to find in Ireland, UK is easier but added cost of transport... But no panic, the right one will come.

Oh, I prob could have mentioned my father has Porsche 109 junior! It came from Croatia, paint is burnt on but no rust :)
We rebuilt the engine and the lift, just needs fresh paint to be finished.

Hello Dave, Paul from Cork here, just last week brought my first 911 an '83 SC in from UK, I went over and drove it back and sorting the paperwork was no problem. Don't let that put you off. You should also check in on Porsche Club Ireland forum, good guys on there who know when cars come up for sale at home. Best of Luck with the search, its all part of the ultimate experience.
