Received an unexpected letter…..

I've purchased a few items from Manuel Campuzano, perfect stickers and an excellent custom balsa wood gear knob; when I asked for items to refurb my Repa seat belt receivers many months ago he was down to his vey last set of 'PRESS' decals but promised me the 'PUSH' triangles if he ever produced more. Good to his word he remembered, complete with his customary 'gift'.

In a digital world of plastic courier bags and computer printed labels, Manuel's old school hand written, ink stamped packages from Mexico City just look so cool…..even cooler knowing there's old Porsche related items inside! ….

Dropped the engine oil, gear oil and box oil, took off the carbs to do the fuel surge fix and get ready for rebushing...Winters on the way.

Beautiful day (again !) here on the west coast of Scotland (what's going on?) so spent the day in the sunshine fine adjusting the return stops on the throttle body linkages, the cut off switch and some mfi pump tinkering and then generally going for a run to see what improvements it made. Running sweet.

Threw back the covers on the S after a two year slumber and bravely tried to carefully restart. No luck as yet but she is close to catching. Cleaned the plugs, distributor contacts, all the engine bay connections. We have fuel (old), air and spark but no life yet. Not too much cranking so will have another go tomorrow. Battery a bit lifeless so perhaps that is the issue.

By the way, have you ever tried adjusting the return stop on the linkages of number 4 with the engine shroud in place. Had to make (modify) another bespoke little tool. It's tight in there! Thinking about doing a gynecology course.

Try disconnecting the fuel hose (from the tank) to the fuel pump & sticking the end in a 5 litre can of fresh fuel ...

Or put some fresh petrol in an old spritzer bottle and as some one is cranking the engine spritz into the trumpets. That will do it.
