I looked at this one as well this afternoon in the flesh......

it is a very long way from being concurs or meticulously restored imo .....cracked dash .lots of bad paint, bad gaps particularly engine lid , paint blistering I assume due to underlying rust in places, visible migwelding , looked very rough top of A posts around the sunroof drain tubes etc etc

But matching numbers , engine looked very fresh, sunroof , original sports seats etc ............just well used with a nice patina inside.

Great as a RHD driver/project..............but the body needs restoring properly imo.

If £140k plus buyers = £161,000 is market price, probably puts a properly restored matching numbers car at £200k+ imo

Yep, I'm surprised to see it fetch so much.
It did have much to commend it but....

However it is now someones pride & joy so I won't talk ill of it but why didn't the seller fix some of the faults?
Those Fuchs were begging to be re-finished. A thousand pounds that would have transformed the car.
So many other easily improved areas too.
But hey, I'm wrong. The owner made little effort and still achieved an excellent price. A very good result for the seller.

I just don't think all 2.4S's are worth huge money just because they are a 2.4S.
But hey, I'm wrong....

I guess if you have decided to sell then you have to just set a budget to spend and stick to it, otherwise where does it end and would the potential buyer notice or be encouraged by the improvements anyway, I guess is the dilemma .......the buyer may have bought it with the intention to do a 100% restoration.

A good result for the seller and as long as the buyer inspected it before buying it then he has what he wants at a price he was happy to pay ....

Perfect result for both parties.................. and of course the auction house

Even green cars with tonka toy bumpers and scribbly writing on the side seem to be fetching money...

Brown and green should never be seen.
