Ahhhhhh! 6 days to go.

Went to a friend's service station to get it on the ramp to see if we could see the source of the oil leak and balance front wheels.
I asked him to take the weight off and check wheel bearings etc to make sure there wasn't anything exacerbating the 75 mph wobble.
O/S wheel dropped further than expected and had up and down movement that it shouldn't  . Front strut knackered. Tyre feathered down to cords!
So just picked up these new babies.

But can't get started until Monday morning, also need 4 new tyres.

Wasn't mine btw…..being polite he didn't actually say although he spent an absolute age drooling and gazing at Richard Huckle's Tangerine T…..pretty much left Barry speechless…..which if you know Barry, is some achievement! ….

All in a day everything that is right and wrong about driving in England. I got up early on Thursday and started the day with a short walk in the countryside with our dog. Normally I have to cycle into work through London. Next I got into the 356 and drove it down to Reivival by Terminal 5 to pick up the keys for my garage (long story) but now the 356 is going to France. Horrid journey crawling along the M1 and M25. Then onto Guildford to pick William up at the Train Station, as he had travelled from London, then to Goodwood. Grreat twisty roads but a few too many cars hearing the same way to enjoy them. Nice day at Goodwood but too much modern stuff for me. Loved the Silver Arrows. Looked like someone was trying to sell a Carrera 6 and 935? No prices. As we headed out of Goodwood some plonker in a Boxster was trying drift/burn out his wheels going up the grass hill. Why? Next it seemed like a cool idea for him to race way on the narrow lanes cutting in/out of the other traffic. I know that many on here like to drive their cars in a spirited fashion but why on a narrow country lane with bind turns and only just enough room to get by? Drove onto Surrey and dropped my son of at his Prom. We weren't the only Parent/Child with this idea as there was a nice GT3 behind us as I dropped him off.

The car don't missed a beat. I'm dropping into Chris Turner's on Saturday as I think it's heating up a little too quickly on the motorway at 3k rpm. Certainly seems like that compared to the DDK European trip last year. I've down to 2 shims on the fan belt as that was my first port of call and I think the exhaust value gaps are ok but I'm sure that Chris will be able to suggest something. Even if it's stop worrying about it.

Fitted my new Dansk 2 in/1 out silencer to my 73T/3.2
Pig to fit but a good mashing to one seam with a lump hammer got it on.

The old 2 in/3 out Liestrict (sp) silencer was about 20 years old and served me very very well.
Will miss the open noise, but road manners rule.

Bonus is it is not as silent as I expected it to be :drunken:

Finally managed to collect the 964. It was nice to be back behind the wheel of a 911 again, even one limited to 3000rpm.

Carried out some last minute welding to the exhaust to stop a blow and fitted this Momo I bought from Andy, dated 1990 the same year as the car.

got rid of a wasps nest that suddenly appeared over one of the garage doors ... not sure if I did the correct thing, but a broom handle followed by me running pretty swiftly across to the house seemed to have done the trick.

After that , washed the porsche , just need to dig out the tent etc now

We drove round the shores of Lake Garda, sadly the weather has not been as good as yesterday, but the roads were still as good.
