Classic LeMans 2014 - the who's travelling & staying where ?

Post by hot66 »

I cocked up the en route hotel dates for our group when it came to travelling down  , so this time a fair few of us won't be arriving until around lunchtime on the Friday so unless we all get up early probabally won't get there before the roads are closed ( our Thursday night hotel is about 3hrs away)

We are travelling down from Edinburgh on Thursday, the 912 and a modern (914 is not going to make it unless there is a miracle), tunnel crossing at 16.20, got to find somewhere to stop a few hours from Calais and then arrive at Blue Nord public on Friday late morning. We have infield parking and track time which should be a giggle in the 912.
Look forward to seeing you all.

Following a change of plans we are able to attend this year after all :)

Staying in Blue Nord pubic camping. Probably crossing by Tunnel on Thursday morning.

James

Just noticed that I've forgot to mention that I'm down for the Parade Lap and infield parking. :)

Here come the questions from a first timer ;-

Should I be taking some petrol carriers with me or is there enough service stations en route from Zebrugge to Le Mans??

Do we need to bring cooking equipment for breakfast, tea and coffee etc?

Hurry up July :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Hi Margaret

You will have no problems with petrol stations all the way from Zeebrugge. If you are travelling motorway the prices are a little more expensive. Non motorway look for the big supermarkets, Leclerc, Auchan etc for the best prices about €1.52 just now. Beware that after about 19.30 you can only use a credit card same for all day Sunday. That does not apply on the motorways where they are generally manned all the time. Don't know about your tea and coffee making but be warned the French can't make tea :)

maybe see you here, safe trip.

Margaret ... i wouldn't worry too much as you're driving down with us northerners ;) I think we're going to try & do nearly all the journey on back roads.

I always full brim the car at Hull, so we can crack on straight off the ferry. We all then should need fuel around the same time, but best to fill up whenever the group stops for fuel.

There are no catering facilites at the the site, so bring whatever you think you'll need for tea / coffee / food etc. Usually we make a trip to the supermarket every day as there is a nice cafe ( & toilet ;) ) there. I'll be honest I'm crap with food, I tend to eat out around the circuit .

for one reason or another I ended up booking on a trip organised by RPM

going Thursday evening on the tunnel
staying St Leonard des Bois wherever the hell that is

but hopefully see you guys there at some stage..will look out for DDK

all I know is I have got paddock pass, grandstand and "porsche parking"

got a weekend trip to Wales lined up in the new hotrod in 3 weeks to do a proper shakedown / bed in because I certainly dont want to be on the side of the autoroute calling the RAC !

all this chat about historic monaco has got me really looking fwd to CLM
