This was clearly an emotional ride form Mark, but fascinating for both of us. There was really nothing wrong with the engine, but not a lot right either. It was a good decision to keep going and split the engine right down, jut for the peace of mind ! The wealth of experience that Mike is willing to share in invaluable. I know who I would like guiding my efforts to rebuild my engine ( one day) .

What a refreshing change it is to read every new post you make in this thread Mark - the much-needed anti-dote for the (seemingly) ever-increasing: 'Isn't this £150k 911T too cheap ?' & 'How much do you think this 2.4S will sell for ?' type threads.

Definitely one of my favourite threads - full of surprises - & the enthusiam that exudes is infectious.

Thank you.

Thanks for all the kind comments guys

Checked out the engine casing I'd bought - looks pretty good. I may do a bit of boat tailing before getting it up to Mike!

+1 to all the above! I don't work on my car but admire everyone on here who does... and especially you Mark for your have-a-go-attitude and if-I-don't-know-I'll-find-out approach. Top work.

Whenever I dip into this thread, I'm reminded of that phrase "the future belongs to those of us still willing to get our hands dirty". Keep it going Sladey, the future is yours! 8)

Good ol Zentrum! They'd use copper grease on the front wheel bearings on my car.

Love the momentum Mark and can't wait to see the end result probably a lot faster than any other project on DDK.

How much do you think this car will be worth when finished?

They sound brilliant!

I have loaded my engine up and will be taking it to them in the morning.

Thanks for the kind comments guys

Couldn't possibly comment on Zentrum

If the car does actually increase in value the only people that will benefit are my next of kin.

One thing I forgot to mention was the missing tinware! about half way through we realised that there was none of the internal tinware that redirects the airflow! I don't know if it was there when it went to zentrum but they either didn't notice it was missing (or didn't do anything about it if they did notice) or forgot to fit it. Anyhoo, if you know of any available let me know - I'll be putting a post in the wanted section shortly

Cheers

Mark
