What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

Finished off putting new shocks & springs on and dropped the gearbox out today to try and stop the crunching when putting it into first and reverse.

Looks like i'm going to need a new release nearing and a new clutch plate. I'm going to have to sell a kidney - let me know if any one wants one...

I was showing Delkel how easy it was!!

I'd rebuilt the top end with a 'new' head and used a head gasket. Previous owner had gone without but it had evidence of leaking, instead he had put washers under the rocker gear which I'd re used but the valve clearances were way out so I dithered then decided to drop it out again and remove the washers.

Had the car out for a drive over to Harewood hill climb to meet up with Peter ( Petric ) .
Met up with Pete's mate Simon Dawes who was competing in his 964 , lovely car .

Oh, I drove my car at Montlhery on the old banked Grand Prix circuit. Not a bad place to have my first track day !!! Whoop !

i was hoping to get to Harewood today myself but ended up under myc ar but saw Simon Dawes's car there a few weeks ago at the practice session and very nice it was too. He was a bit faster than me in my knackered old 914

Interesting way in keeping your tyres cleans

Normal hillclimb practice now and very effective and cheap too.

Strange combination of words to use for a competition car!
Many use black cling film rather than clear.

More info if you would be kind enough! How did you know that the plate and bearing are gone?

There were cracks in the friction plate surface and the bearing was making a horrible rumbling noise when i put the clutch in.

Porsche want £150 for a new friction plate but there is a VW transporter equivalent for much less that i will go for. And the bearing is also expensive - i dont think there is an alternative for that, but am going to risk taking it apart to see whats going on.
