Re: 72 Hotrod - my new project
This shot's interesting, Dan, as it looks like Keswick Green which is a colour I think you were originally considering for the car (could, however, just be my monitor)?
Steve
1 x '67S, 3 x 2.4S all RHD
A privilege & pleasure to have owned them all.

Re: 72 Hotrod - my new project
Thanks for the kind comments everyone
It does look Keswick like Steve I agree but I went with slate in the end
Think it was just the lighting
Meanwhile today I heard my seats are finished.. And they hit the spot as far as I am concerned
Trying to learn the lessons from last time ....
"Road car, road car, road car" repeat mantra to myself ad nauseam
No point in making a quasi race car or smthg so raw it becomes a pain
Hence with the seats I wanted:
Comfort+sporty+harness friendly+retro look
Pretty happy!

Nurse! the curtains!
They look fantastic.

Re: 72 Hotrod - my new project
thanks guys
there are many other good seats i've seen other people choose like the ones Darren has got planned or D'eser retro look ones
BUT I have had recaro sportster cs seats before when I had a Clio Cup and they really are very good
and I liked the fact they are Recaro ie keeping a link with the sporty option "in period"
Southbound did the work ... as long as you dont mind every email taking 3 weeks to be answered, they are the guru's of Porsche interiors I think
matching basketweave on the doors and dash and new black headliner going in

Mine are at the trim shop at the moment, and were a gash red alacantara/vinyl, but I agree; mounted at the correct height just the best seats I've ever used in a road car.

Re: 72 Hotrod - my new project
the joys of a long drawn out build with the car (or collection of bits) having been in a few places ... not
#1 we cant find one of your door handles, or the keys.
solution: new lock set £750 *ouch*
#2 the battery box delete to facilitate airflow to the wheelarch mounted oil cooler means theres nothing to mount the yellow spotlight on.
solution: fab up a small flat section bracket (i dont want them bumper mounted...looks messy and I have NOS horn grilles with the holes in the middle for exactly this reason)
#3 the in-sill oil pipes used end in "BSP" type threads and we dont like them
solution: just sort it
#4 your side windows are very scratched
solution: swapped for some other nicer old ones
#5 if you want a hidden radio aerial windscreen they only come in green tint. your back window isnt green tint so wont match
solution: yet another line added to my excel worksheet
#6 the headliner from Southbound is great but it didnt come with the vinyl bits for the pillars
solution: tell you what lets trim them in shagreen (joke)
anyone contemplating a project. DONT.
just buy something like that ST that Stretch posted , which has consumed someone elses time, effort and cash
only joking...despite all the hassle its still very satisfying having something bespoke with every detail MY choice. I want to be driving it and mid-late April is looking very likely

From your first post Dan! .....squirdan wrote: hopeful of being done by Jan / Feb!
cheers Dan
......I'd say to be 'only' 14/15 months over schedule is an achievement and you'll be at least a year ahead of me!
The pain, anguish, and cost will become distant memories as soon as you drive it!.......and having a car looking that good you'll know you did the right thing!
Awesome project....very well done!
Darren

Avon CR6ZZ's ordered
185/70 fronts, 225 / 60 rears... anything wrong with that?
bearing in mind wider rear arches and 245bhp
famous last words but first drive scheduled Friday 2nd may

All brilliant work Dan, you're going to be well rewarded for all that effort.squirdan wrote:famous last words but first drive scheduled Friday 2nd may
So far Darren has set the benchmark for first drive days... have you found the original owner yet?
Enjoy every minute of it!
