911 backdate/Hotrod

Hello DDK, I am new on this forum and a newly proud owner of a 911 sc. I am planning to backdate it and convert into a modern hotrod with early 911 looks. I am hoping to get it to lose weight as I and also get a few pony's more to try and get around 250 to 270 horse power per tonne.
First I am debating if I should flare it to a st or leave it with sc flares... I guess it depends on what wheels I can fit in.

Can anybody share photos of their backdate with 16" and 17" wheels with tires info so I can have an idea of what wheels can fit in sc flares and st flares?

If you're going 15 inch (you know you want to - looks better) you can fit 8x15 rears with suitable rubber with a standard SC flare

Thanks for that but I would like to have some wheels that feels the arches well with not too much tyre sidewall.. I think with some 15" sidewall will be too much.
For example this one I think works very well, I think she is on 17"... But not sure

On a backdate I always prefer the look of 15s to be honest. They look like 16s above but too kick wheel for me going on

Filling the an SC arch with a 15 will require some sidewall but that's what it's all about!

17" wheels will mess with the chassis. Even a 964 drives better with 16" wheels than with 17"s.

If someone says 'Singer', I'll say £10k worth of Ohlins finest……...

Every time this comes up I get tempted to fit flares to my car and go with some width and sidewall, its a great look

I think as the sc is already fitted with 16 I can space them out and lower the car on them to see if that is what I want before staring getting new wheel and welding some bigger flares...

By the way looking for composite panel, does anyone know we're I could find 911 S front wings of good quality? As I can find ST and RSR but not early standard wings...

I agree with Bootsy - 15s look better on the older cars. Some also argue they provide superior handling on a 911. Not sure most people would notice though. The tyre choices with a 15" rim are somewhat limited if you want to keep a >600mm total diameter. There are some nice Toyo track day tyres in 235s that they say will sit on an 8" rim - I assume that'll give a bit of retro bulge too. All the wide 15" tyres with a big enough aspect ratio are expensive though.

I've got 16x9s with 245 45s on my 3.2 Carrera and that has the same rear flares as an SC. There is no chaffing and it could probably even take 5-10mm spacing (or a 255) and still not rub.

I'm working tentatively towards a DIY backdate too - I decided to go with steel front wings. In something of a brain-melt I managed to buy two right wings instead of a right and left...now looking for someone equally stupid to swap with.

If you like the 911R look, EB Motorsport have just started making some very nice looking GRP front wings. I think Getty do stock long-hood front wings in GRP or CF.
