Lurked since 2007 but only joined recently. I had a mint, low miles 87 coupe for a few years and started on the hotrod route but got cold feet as it was 'too nice'. Regretted selling it more or less as soon as it went.
Earlier this year, I bought a ratty SC cabrio, delivered to me in perfect weather - snow. It is actually a 1980 car converted to a cabriolet in 1989 and painted in then-fashionable guards red. After being run for a few years it stood for over a decade. PO rescued it and spent typical Porsche money to get it running but realistically it needs an engine rebuild although I've done ~500 miles. A selection of the external panels are disintegrating as I look at them in the garage but the basic tub & inner wings etc are sound. External panels will become 911R, 73S or even (sacrilege!) pre-73 rear and IROC front (I vacilate between them). Although it's matching numbers (with a factory LSD), it's originality has already been 'ruined' by the cab conversion & colour change which lost all the factory stickers
Fingers crossed.
