Hi From Staffordshire

Post by Nobsie »

Hi, been a member on here for a few years with the odd comment here and there.

I have a SWB RHD 1967 912 which I purchased back in 2007 which has been at the back of the workshop on the 'to do' list ever since.

I am now in a position to drag it out of the cobwebs and hopefully make a meaningful start on restoration later this year.

Been collecting the correct / period parts since I purchased it to try and return it to its original state.
It had been fitted with fibreglass front wings, RS front bumper and flared rear arches during its life, together with a 2.0ltr 911E MFI engine, I also have the 912 engine with 5 speed box.

The intention is to return it to a true 912 (despite the temptation to keep the 911 lump)

Hopefully will be able to post a few pics once I make a start.

Thanks

Dan

Hi Dan.

Brave move, un-911ing a converted 912! Highly commendable.

Are you going to put a standard 90hp motor back in, or something with a bit more poke?

Welcome to DDK :) I'm not too far from Staffordshire, good to have a few more members around this area (although I appreciate it's a big place!)

Ay up.

I'm not from Staffordshire, but I was near Leek yesterday and people kept saying that at me. I think it's a greeting.

Let's have some snaps of the car then.

Hi, thanks for the comments - I am actually in the Tamworth area.

Will try and post a few pics below - please bear with me if it doesn't work !

A couple of pics from original advert (bit grainy as scanned prints)

And one taken as I start to pull it from storage partly stripped.

Wheels are temporary have either fuchs or steels to put back on.

Fibreglass front wings now removed - do these have any value ? (think they are modified IB wings) as all proceeds will be put back into the cars rebuild.

Thanks Dan

Those wings will be worth something to someone - stick them on ebay.

Red 67 interiors with the brushed strip through the dash and green dials are my very favourite 911/2 interiors ever.

What colour was the car originally?

As far as I can make out the car is originally red - cannot find traces of any other colour, but may do when stripping down further. - Waiting for COA to arrive to confirm both ext & int colours.
Was red interior on a red car an option - only seen red interiors on white or black (I will stand corrected on this from the people in the know !)

Thanks

Dan

My brother-in-law is probably your vicar.

Sorry for mucking up your thread Dan, you should get a resto thread going, nothing we like more.
Will be interesting to see what the COA comes up with, bear in mind that they are often wrong.
