I have recovered a few seats in the past, but thought I share the stages from start to finish and take away any mystic or mystery surrounding trimming seats
1 Take a pair of tried Targa seats
2 Strip and assess frames and Springs
3 Re-weld new captive nuts (three broken) to back frame
4 Rust proof and apply POR15 to base and base spring assembly
5 Reinforce base springs to alleviate sag
6 Cut new seat base spring protector
7 Remake new lumber support with hessian
8 Repair seat base with horsehair subsidy & apply foam to shape
9 Apply same process to seat back for increased lumber support
10 Spray base with satin black
11 Use existing seat covers as templates.
12 Fabricate new covers including matching piping (note the machine manufacture)
13 Wrestle, heat, push, adjust, to fit
14 Repaint hinges to finish
15 Assemble and readjust.
16 Simples!
