1968 Porsche 912

Brief introduction…
I have had this amazing car since 1998. Since then it has undergone an extensive restoration and rebuild.
It's a 1968 short wheelbase LHD 912 built by Porsche/Karmann to US specification. It was sold to the original owner in Van Nuys, California.
Painted in it's original colour Irish Green it's a matching numbers car.
I'm loathed to let it go!

Interior
The front seats have just been re-upholstered in period correct covers from Autos International and the carpet set replaced too.
The seat belts are new modern (i.e. safe) period reproductions.
The car has original four spoke wooden steering wheel, better not ask how much one of these would be on the open market today!
Period correct Becker Grand Prix radio.
Nice Porsche key fob too.
Has Sigma Thatcham Cat 1 alarm fitted
Porsche towel and spare generator belt in glovebox

Bodywork
Great paintwork, with a few minor snaggles as you would expect with a 40+ year old car.
Fully Rustprooofed and garaged since I have owned the car.
Hella 128 foglamps
Correct Euro spec indicators, very necessary when MOT time comes
H4 Headlamps
Deep Six polished Fuchs with excellent Michelin tyres, spare is steel.
100,000km Porsche badge
Correct Porsche bonnet badge

Engine
Rebuilt by Andy Prill in 2003 and has done approx 8000 miles since then, no expense spared.
This engine is very strong, and will out run many 911 of the period, much to their dismay.
some of the good stuff:
1720cc
NOS Porsche Crank
New Weber 40IDF Carbs
Full Flo kit
Shasta Barrels and Pistons
Power Pulley
Norris 337S Cam
New Carb Manifolds
Everything blueprinted and balanced
The 5 speed 901 gearbox was also rebuilt at this time.
Since then has had RSR0012 Distributor fitted.

Running gear
5 speed 901 gearbox
911 gearbox mount
Brake callipers rebuilt
S callipers fitted
Shocks replaced 6000 miles ago
Suspension rebuilt 6000 miles ago
New drive shafts 6000 miles ago

Misc
New petrol tank just fitted
Just serviced by Revival Cars
MOT till Jan 31st 2014

The bad
Not much really, as mentioned a few snaggles in the paint, Steering wheel is a bit chaffed, must be Bob's rings (see below) apart from that all pretty exceptional.

History
Has full history from day one including the original handbooks and maintenance record. Bills going back to day one.
The car has featured on numerous magazine covers and articles.
The car was used in the 2001 film Spygame as the lead characters car, Robert Redford drove the car in the scenes shot in north London. Co-star Brad Pitt apparently took his then squeeze Jennifer Anniston for a run in the car too.
The car has been owned by the 912 Register secretary (me) for the last 15 years. No expense has been spared on creating a beautifully balanced and great drivers car.

Genuine reason for sale.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Car is located in Cornwall, can pick anyone up from Bodmin Parkway station, just under 4 hours from London Paddington. Or we are just past Liskeard if driving. Inspections welcome.
