RHD UK No 1 '67 911S ex Porsche Cars GB reg LYY 911D auction

Post by 1st »

An interesting RHD 1967 911S Coupe is coming up for auction, catalogued as the first RHD 911S imported into the UK:

Registration no. LYY 911D
Chassis no. 305328
Engine no. 960043
Ivory/White
Porsche Cars Press Car

For restoration, but a historically significant RHD early Porsche 911.

http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/20929/lot/301/

Incidentally, after years of requests from owners and collating data I am adding any and all data on the early RHD '67 911S cars, so if you have one and would like to add it to this register, please email your car's details to me (confidentiality assured) at:

rallyequipe@ozemail.com.au

Thanks and cheers

Stewart.

Yet, interestingly, AFN (as was) have no record of the car on file. Bonhams say the engine is not original.

Hi Stewart

How are you down under?

This historically significant car is discussed elsewhere on DDK and it's impending auction. It is likely to have tremendous interest.

I have a database of RHD 67S cars which now totals 22 definite known cars with a further 3 rumored to exist but no positive, current, definitive sightings.

I have 4 cars listed in Australia which are currently 'real' so if you know of more down there please let me know.

I never expected so many of the original 35 cars to still exist and I bet there are one or two more yet to be discovered.

Regards
Mike

Mick Pacey also quoted LYY 911D as being AFN's 'press car' (in his sales spiel for LYVIE:)

Very strange that they no longer retain a record. :?

Nick

Do they say what the engine number/type is? Unlikely, but I have to ask.

Steve

Pictures of that engine number/type would be most interesting. I would also like to get under that knee pad :-)

Two of my unconfirmed cars are those in Singapore. I have one definite car (that was for sale last year) but the other two are just 'rumours' without current photos etc. Have you heard anything from owners yet?

Mike

Date of liability '79? :?
Colour Brown???? :? :?

Someone has also mentioned that this car was registered as 'scrapped' with DVLA?

A LOT of questions to be answered. A leap of faith for anyone paying top dollar for this car (certainly won't be me  ).

I think the DVLA info above puts that story to rest?

Why is there a significant amount of time between registration ('66) and liability ('79)?

Does this mean it was on a SORN?

Or am misinterpreting what 'date of liability' means?

Date of liability will have been the last time it was taxed/legally on the road.
