Just bought 914-6

Post by JSE993 »

Hi,
I heard from jwhillracer about this site having turned up at Roger Bray's open day on Saturday with my new 914-6. It's the blue one in the pics posted about the open day elsewhere on the site. It started off life as a 1.7 and received a 2.0S engine in the 90s. I bought the car from a real expert and gent in Essex called Terry Allen and am enjoying it very much.

Had a wonderful drive from home in Surrey to Devon and back and I can only marvel at how unsung these heroic driver's cars are (though certainly the brilliantly charismatic non-original engine plays a big part here). It was great to see old friends like Crispin Andy and Jonathan at Roger's and the sunshine really made the day.

I discovered Porsches back in 1991 with a silver rose 944 Turbo and have just added up that the 914-6 is my 14th Porsche, or 15th if you double count the 964RS Touring I bought twice...

I'm looking forward to making contact with more DDKers which I'm sure will just add to the enjoyment of the car.

Hello again John!

Great to see you on Saturday with a 914/6. It's not very often that we go somewhere that 3 914/6's and only 1 914/4 turn up..........
All the way back to London with the roof off and no heater?

Cheers!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

In response, yes of course back to the SE with the roof off!

And I need to go away and work out how to upload some more pics...

Hey Peter, thanks for the message and sorry for the slow response - work has been busy. I'm having great fun with the car and the sound is awesome! The condition of the car is a real credit to its previous keepers.

Am currently investigating if I can get FIVA papers and enter some events...meanwhile I am due to go down to Northern Spain with the car in August and looking forward to that.

Cheers

John
