Strange offer of purchasing Kev

Post by bonerp »

A guy contacted me enquiring about the car saying he has a 'collector' in malaysia interested in buying Kev..

He wants a copy/scan of my log book so the buyer can get a quote for importing/duties etc. Something about it being a classic as they dont normally allow you to import cars over 3 yrs old unless it is a classic. I told him its effectively a new car as it was registered last year but was registered on age related plates (irrelevant I guess in another country).

I’ll send a copy and blank out all mine and cars details. He also wants a copy of the original beetle log book for evidence and historic purposes (luckily I scanned a copy before I sent it to DVLA!).

I've asked for evidence of his company etc so I can check him out, but I don’t think he knows much about these cars and registration process though – hes asking the same question of me against ones that were registered 10 years ago and wonders why some are effectively rebodied beetles! The process has totally changed since! Sounds like he might know about simply importing and exporting 'normal' cars.

I know mines all good and registered last year still has 2 yrs before it needs an mot...we'll see where this goes...!
