Chesil Speedster bodyshell wanted

Hi all
If you have a chesil bodyshell for sale or you know someone that does, please can you let me know?

I am building a speedster and my chassis is about 80% complete. But I am building on a budget so please help if you can...

I have thought about other suppliers but it appears that Chesils hold thre value a little more. I could be wrong...
What do you think?

once built its pretty much immaterial what the original body source ........Chassis/subframe are much more variable, Speedsterclinic subframe v substantial

There are a some good suppliers out there as well as Chesil. Speedster clinic, Martin and Walker, Pilgrim. Its well worth looking around. Factory built Chesil,s do seem to hold a good re-sale price, but I am not so sure if a self build Chesil would fetch anymore than any of the others. (imo)

Thanks guy, I will pay speedsterclinc a visit. Martin and Walker looks good o but not ure about the 4 seater Pilgrim.
My chassis has been build to chesil specs, will the other body's fit it ok?

One last thing. I called Chesil last week to sound out the details. I'm not sure what to make of Peter. Is he ok to do business with?

I had my Beetle chassis shortened by Peter (well one of his guys) at Chesil. He seemed OK to deal with, but I ended up buying my Body and sub chassis from Pilgrim ( not the 4 seat version, they are a bit hidious (IMO)).
I felt that the pilgrim Body was better value and the sub chassis came galvanised as standard where as Chesil wanted extra for galvanising. The Body fitted fine. Pilgrim were good to deal with, but I understand that they are now under new (old) ownership, since I bought mine.

I bought my Hood from Speedster Clinic and was very impressed with the standard and service.

Have only had a couple of dealings with Peter and on both occasions he does not come across as a very welcoming person .The first question was did you buy the car from me .No was my reply but it is one of your kits i replied .He did in fairness send me the door seals i asked about and said just send the money on and he would put them in the post .
I suppose he does get a lot of people asking question about his cars but i feel a more friendly approach is the first step to good customer relations and who knows could lead to a sale

Do speedster body's ever come up for sale? I missed one on eBay not so long ago so was wondering what the likelihood would be to find another one?

They do come up for sale from time to time on ebay but you really need to know what you are buying and looking at cos you wont have much comebacks on it. Just a few weeks ago, there was a real bargain snapped up being sold by speedster clinic, way cheaper than the list price.

I would say use a new supplier (and from my own experience of Chesil AND Speedsterclinic) I would say use Gary / Speedster clinic. I cant comment on Pilgrim as I have not had any experience about them. Ask anyone who knows about speedsters, they will tell you that Gary really knows his stuff.

One thing I would also recommend... the internet is GREAT for background info / advice and opinions but at the end of the day, it is YOUR money and your choice, and i would pay a personal visit to Gary and Chesil and any of the others if you so wish.

Interesting to read the comments above about Peter from Chesil. I too have found Peter... well, lets just say not very helpful or friendly / forthcoming / bothered. Almost felt as though he is saying "we dont need to sell ourselves or our cars... Our reputation does that for us, so if you want one, fine... if not i dont really care" That was just my own impression and bearing in mind that I drove to his workshops from Leicester... its not very encouraging really is it?

How far are you from Kenilworth where Gary / Speedster Clinic is based?

One thing I have found... people that own Chesils will tell you to go for a Chesil, people that own a Pilgrim will tell you to go for a Pilgrim and so on and so on...

I say ask lots of questions with an open mind, be sure of what you want and are looking for, visit them in person, check the product out and make you decision from there.

I to drove all the way to chesil from Milton Keynes to meet with Peter, 3hours drive He gave me two minutes of his time before heading off to drop a gearbox to someone. I spent my time talking with Goose his mechanic who to be fare was a top top bloke.....

Are chesil and speedster clinic body virtually the same? Can you tell who's kit is best? I've only ever had experience with chesil hence why I would rather go for a chesil....

bodys & subframe is different ! you will find the Chesil has the front lights too high for a speedster (sorry) but a very good product
speedster clinic will be more to the real thing but getting hold of Gary is another thing thou haha soz Gaz
