I have tried many Porsche forums but it appears they are too POSCHE to reply to us classic car drivers. Being a member of the land rover forum where people come back with their ideas at an instant, it was disheartening not to get any help in trying to get my car going.
I have a 1972 911T Targa Flatnose that has been sat in my friends garage for over 12years. So far i have rebuilt the whole braking system, could not get any pressure to the rear discs which turned out to be the flexi pipes on the rear swinging arm had swollen internally not allowing any fluid through, reshaped and sprayed the flared arched rear end, overhauled the starter, overhauled the generator (regulator still not working yet), found a new Targa roof-NEED TO COVER MY OLD ONE, ANY IDEAS?
Presently and for the past 5 months i have been `painstakingly` trying to sort out the later type Zenith carbs. I have just fitted new float chamber valves but one of the chambers to 2/3 cylinders keeps over fueling- i have clear plastic tubing attached to the float chamber to watch the levels- then it will be okay for a minute or so. ANY IDEAS? ANYBODY SELLING WEBERS THAT NEED OVERHAULING?
I need Flag type wing mirrors for a left hand drive model. I have a pair of heated right hand drive mirrors but the mountings are `mirror` images of the left hand ones. Any body want to buy heated ones and an excellant non heated passenger door mirror in Guards red?

I think if you take your time and do a search on the forum you will find a lot of your answers.

I am confused, apart from the various lenses, Impact Bumper flag mirrors (I think that is what you are talking about) are the same on left and right hand drive cars, it's the position on each door that changes. The glasses can be swapped over.

What fuel pump has your car got ?

It may be that it's been replaced by a non-original pump that's putting out too much pressure. If so, I'd install a pressure regulator in the fuel line just before the carbs & set the pressure at ~ 3.5 psi to see if that cures the 'flooding'.

Its the flag type mirrors???? Nope they don`t swap over. The drivers door mirror is further forward than the passengers and the drivers base mounting has wider footing allowing it to mount lower-the holes are in my doors.
The dealer near Newton Abbott, told me that the ones that swap over are after market, that are diffcult to see out of the passengers side. I am new to Porkers, so any advice is taken in.

Thats brilliant, thank you. I thought the pressure was high and not what i`m used to on a carburettor engine. Any idea where i can get a fuel pressure regulator?

The fuel pump has some kind of solenoid on the top, one pipe coming into the top, one out to the carb, one returning back onto the chassis. the drain pipe at the bottom has a blank in the end!

Those are not both Impact Bumper mirrors. Either one is aftermarket or they are early flag mirrors. Pictures will help

That's not the fuel pump - it's the fuel filter.

Was this car originally from the US ?

If so, it came with mfi (mechanical fuel injection) & the fuel pump (located under the car just infront of the nsr wheel) puts out ~ 15 psi !

Let us know the VIN & we'll know for sure.

DOH. I can hear a pump running which is what i thought that was. I`ll have a good look tomorrow. I don`t know the history of the car other than my friend who i bought it from, bought it from a dealer in Thornbury, Bristol about 17 years ago.

I am stil waiting for the Logbook as he is working in japan at the moment. If you can let me know where the plate is on the Chassis i will pass it on.
