Chassis number 911 360 1312

This right-hand-drive M472 1973 911 Carrera RS Touring was delivered new by AFN London on the 1st of August 1973 to an 18 year old young lady as a gift from her father.

It has a full and detailed known history since, with a file of receipts and photographs along with the original maroon Maintenance Record, handbook and wallet.

The car was kept by this first owner for six years and 58,000 road miles, before passing to the second who in turn kept it a further four years. In 1983 the it passed to Peter Collard who race prepared the car and competed during the 1980s in the PCGB Giroflex championship, with some successes, alongside various well known racers of the time such as Tony Dron, Paul Edwards and Bob Watson.

The car next changed hands in 1994 when Frank Sytner Ltd, Nottingham sold it to a Mr Barnes. It looks to have been recommissioned at this stage, sailing though a pre-purchase report by Merlin, the Nottingham Porsche dealer.

Mr Barnes appears to have used the car non-competitively for 6 years, having it looked after by Machtech and RUF amongst others before deciding to have it prepared for historic road rallies by Gantspeed in 2001. The car entered the gruelling 15,000 mile HERO Inca Trail in the same year and successfully finished.

This event quite probably took its toll on the cosmetics of the car as in 2002 it was passed to Specialised Paintworks in Reading who completely stripped and rebuilt all of the bodywork to their exacting standards. A photographic record is included in the history file.

The car was then used predominantly as a road car once more, with more maintenance at Machtech and GT One.

The most recent owner acquired the car specifically to enjoy it on historic road events notably entering the Casablanca Challenge in 2009 and not only completing it, but acheiving overall victory against both classic and modern competition.

The car is currently in road rally trim with mud flaps, Heigo half cage, rally trip meters and some lightweight parts.

It would be immediately eligible and seems to have the potential to win in a number of prestigious historic events or could equally be reverted to full road specification.

It can be bought with either or both of its original matching number engine and the full 2.7 litre, 7R cased, MFI RS specification motor with which it has been recently competed.

The car has just arrived with us and, like all of our stock, can be viewed in our north Essex showrooms by appointment.
