Re: 911 2.2E restoration
This thread is terrifying and awe inspiring at the same time
The car looks like it's going to to be utterly fantastic John. Nice work as always on the shell Barry - what a fantastic skill to be a master of.
Cheers, Ross.
PS. 2012 is definitely going to be the year I get mine back on the road and used!

Great stuff John, I'm really envious of this part of the process, love refitting things to a freshly prep'd shell. Sometimes just simply taking time fitting a screw into a piece of trim is enjoyable.

When I used to rebuild VWs I used to always rush it, scratch the fresh paint and generally mess things up!Nige wrote:love refitting things to a freshly prep'd shell. Sometimes just simply taking time fitting a screw into a piece of trim is enjoyable.
Looking great John - when is the deadline?

Re: 911 2.2E restoration
I did the same with my KG, was fitting a Talbot Berlin mirror to the door. Fresh paint and was still at the paint shop at the time, slipped with a screwdriver and put a scratch down the door panel. Nearly cried, in fact I might have done. The painter told be me to go home and calm down. When I came the next day the scratch was gone.Bootsy wrote: When I used to rebuild VWs I used to always rush it, scratch the fresh paint and generally mess things up!

No deadlines but the weather is getting better. I would like it finished for the beginning of summer.
Kind regards.

Looking great John
Can you get it high enough with the bumpers and rear panel on to get the engine in? I struggle with mine and always end up taking one bumper corner and the rear panel out of the way.

The bumper quarters and centre panel are just on for trial fit. If Mike lends me his jack then it's fine but if I use my own I will take the centre panel off.Gary71 wrote:Looking great John

Those rear lenses and bumper trim are looking lovely - are they new?
Car is looking so good by the way....it's an inspirational build.

Hi Darren
Just in the middle of a skiing holiday so no full frontal pics this week.
Richard, all the indicator lenses are new but the bumper trims are not. The whole thing is just a mock up at the moment I will fit it all permanently once I am happy with the fit.
