As mentioned earlier in the thread, will be using coil-over dampers on the car. I will be using a set of the latest Ohlins adjustable 'historic spec' dampers.

The front inserts will be installed into a custom built set of uprights (currently being prepared), to accept the spring and mounting hardware.
The rears have threaded bodies, so are bolt-on

Here a couple of detail pics to show the units prior to install onto the chassis

It is 'Sport Classic Grey', a colour Porsche designed for the 997 model in 2010. We had a couple of these cars and I felt it would work on a historic rally car, so that was the inspiration

we have some progress to report

getting ready to install the engine and gearbox, a few detail shots to share - lightweight flywheel (2475g vs 4464g standard) installed using ARP bolts

Installing a Sachs power clutch (weight 4474g)

Quick shot of the RSR gearbox oil cooling pump

At last we are able to install the dampers, these are a new development from Ohlins, and these are the very first set into the UK. Its been frustrating to wait four months whilst production of these has been completed but hopefully will be well worth the wait. The dampers are single adjustable, just under 30 positions, so should cater for road/track driving and change of conditions - can't wait to test them, not too long now !

We are considering having the RSR pump housings recast in magnesium, I have been in discussions with a UK based engineer that is currently assessing the parts required and if it proves feasible, then we will commence production of the housings in the near future
Phil,

Fantastic work 8)

Did Gus source the RSR pump housing for you and any update on a future repro casting?

Thx

Thanks Mike

Really enjoyed the event and the car ran perfectly with the exception of the fan shearing its boss during the first stage. It must have had a stress fracture around the boss, lucky the first two stages were on the wednesday night, as it allowed time to fix it.

Will post some pictures up when I get chance, plus a few more details from the vehicle build as the last few weeks were a bit hectic trying to get the car finished

I guess the build thread has jumped a bit, but I entered Tour Britannia at the start of the year, and last few weeks had to get a wiggle on to finish it !

Here are a few pictures from last week

Martin, yes Gus built this pump for me. No progression on the castings at this moment

I considered various options available for an exhaust for the SCR.

The brief was to achieve maximum mid-range torque, less than 105dB, a repackable final silencer and lightweight.

This layout is not strictly in accordance with the homolgation documents so for FIA events we have a system in reserve, but this system will be used for all other events and track-days etc.

The design was considered and we opted for a stepped primary header, equal length (design optimised), a three into one merge collector, then a two into one merge into a final silencer.
This system was hand fabricated in-house, we plan to produce a jig for future supply

We acheived our goals, this was the system that I ran in the Tour Britannia event, it was tested at 102dB and we recently had the car on the dyno and we acheived a good 20bhp increase over the previous system we had on the car (RSR style headers with a 2 in 2 out silencer).
It would be interesting to try this system in place of a standard road system, we do plan this for the future, but as yet its not done. I am certain the gains will be substantial.

Here are a couple of pictures showing the detail

Having done a very very similar job myself 2 years ago that looks v nice indeed.
Have you lost much ground clearance coming under the rocker covers?

I tucked mine right under the drain tubes but couldn't get one pipe either side with the others and keep equal length.
Flippin' tough job!
Very nice car IMHO.

I guess its all a bit of a compromise, we wanted to keep the primaries as long as possible for torque, so to achieve this length the routing has to be where we have it. There were no grounding issues on Tour Britannia, and there were a number of dips/yumps along the route. I don't run ride height as low as a circuit racer, but I guess if we did, the car would be stiffer anyway.
