Hi Mike,

I'm just about to replace my old heat exchangers with headers on my 72t which as you will know, means that the thermostat is essentially redundant (and can be removed) as it no longer triggers MFI enrichment during a cold start.

I note that your mfi pump has a blanking plate with an adjustable black 'knurling' knob - please can you let me know where to source these?

Thx

Hi Martin, that was the pump in it's old guise, Koller & Schwemmer rebuilt it with the correct non adjustable blanking plate.
The screw in knob that was on there was an American ad hoc arrangement, which worked in principle but was not very reliable
and leaked oil. You can see the proper blanking late here.

Mike,

How do you handle cold starts with the HB and without any automatic or manual enrichment? Do you need to go over the funnels with starting aid fluid?

Cheers,

Hi Christian, yes that's it, a can of easy start type spray does the trick!

At last here's the moment I've been waiting a year for since the car arrived with Bruce at Sportwagen, the unveiling of the finished
bodywork in it's new silver paint for the first time!

It's been all about the shape of the prototype's arches and here are the rears in all their glory, a totally unique look to reflect the
transition in 1972 from the standard early 911 to the 1973 RSR. I'm really pleased with what Jamie created in metal here, not
identical to the original which were a little crude, but just shaped a little more carefully for a great look which will pair up with the
fronts better.

With the silver and lacquer you can see much better the flow from the arch into the rear quarter, not too sharp like a riveted on
extension, but enough to give the idea of the much more smoothed in look of what was to come the following year.

Here are a few pics just out the booth, I've blacked out the background so as just to really look at the shapes.

That looks stunning Mike - is the body/paint finished now or is there more to do (Martini stripes, etc) ?

thanks Andy, just a little more work with the stripes on the scuttles, then the silver on the bonnet and engine lid are
next as we've changed the tone for a more period correct look, tricky masking and a delicate touch required, but it's in the right hands!

Then it's on with the prototype black to the undersides, floors, inner and under arches, obviously that way round as you can deal with
any overspray on the lacquered silver but not on the satin finish of the black.

As we have come to expect, the car looks fantastic. It will be great to move on to the next stage.
