carbs/air filters

Post by stevieboy »

What,s the pros and cons of removing the air filters from the Weber carbs 48 IDA,s I have and replacing them with, I think there called velocity stacks, they look like the ends of trumpets.
if its worth it ,apart from just looking good, where can you get them from, how much ?

cheers

I'm told that's a no-no. With the stacks alone you will get all sorts of dirt into the engine. I run 48 DRLAs on my 914 and I have the stacks inside the air filters.

Pro: Looks well cool, will give you more airflow so potentially more power

Con: Will suck a load of cr*p into your engine, race cars use open stack because the engine gets rebuilt regularly not really advisable on a street car.
