DUE SHORTLY

An evocation of the sensational 1973 2.8 RSR based on a galvanised 1985 chassis.

The car has been specialist built with light weight in mind but retains the mechanicals of the standard 1985 car, making it thoroughouly easy to live, but because of the weight saving, the performance is still remarkable, almost unbelievable when driven back-to-back with a 1980s 3.2.

The bonnet, bumpers, engine lid and front wings are all light weight GRP, but are thankfully good quality giving very decent panel fit throughout. The roof panel is carbon fibre, saving a good deal of weight from the top of the car. The doors remain steel, negating the need for a roll-cage with door bars and all windows are still glass. This is very much a road car, but probably weighs close to, or perhaps a little less than, 1000kg so the power-to-weight ratio rivals that of a new 997 Carrera.

Inside, the rear seats are deleted and lightweight carpets fitted. Modern bucket seats are currently in place, but these will soon be replaced with period style smaller buckets, like those fitted to this yellow car : http://www.paul-stephens.com/for-sale/P ... ation/3055 There are lightweight door cards and all of the original equipment (except the electric mirrors) remains, including electric windows and a stereo system.

The drivetrain is standard 3.2 Carrera, with a 231bhp 3.2 litre engine and 5 speed box which gives superb performance, with decent refinement and ease of use all year round, in town or on the motorway.

Wheels are new, wickedly expensive Braid RSR style 9x15 front and 11x15 rear and are fitted with Michelin TB15 tyres in 215 equivalent size front and 295 equivalent size rear.

The car would make an ideal weekend toy, a great car for blasting down to Le Mans or would hold its own at a track day, but equally could easily be commuted on a daily basis.

The valuable reg - 22WXJ - is included.

It is with us now and is about to enter the workshop for the new seats, a geometry set up and a general mechanical check and overhaul.

£34,995 Inspected
