Rear 'seat' area fabricated and bolted down...amazed it fits. I originally started this area in the USA 3 years ago and managed to find the original tracing paper patterns! After 4 house moves!!

Cool and original work as usual Chris. Interesting to see your method for aligning up the bonnet filler - I can see that's a sensible approach that would work - I've often wondered on the best way to do this.
What are you going to do about safety re welding up the tank - filling it with water?

Nice new shiny bits...

All torqued up just waiting for the paint on the ARB parts to dry and then they can be fitted.
Any thoughts on this headlight? I like the look of the 904's 910's etc which have the black headlight bowls. I quickly mask one of the bowls to get the effect, its abit distorted because of the lens, but I think it could look nice...providing it doesn't effect how bright the light is.
Original...

Black...

Can't beat putting a sticker on

Update of wiring, gearbox and engine install to follow (soonish
)

What are you going to do about safety re welding up the tank - filling it with water?
I first put the tank in the car and then attached some cotton to the pen to make a plumbline. The theory was that this would find the centre point on the tank. I could then check this by using a piece of tube and a magnet, and adjust if needed before cutting the hole.

I don't know about how to check if the tank is sealed, I am opening to suggestions?? I was going to use the POR-15 tank sealing kit, but I am guessing that some kind of pressure testing would make sense?

Thanks Mick, I have the Dog bowl its just not in this pictureMick Cliff wrote:Nice work Chris
Don't forget the dog bowl (or similar) catch tray and overflow drain to collect spilt fuel or water getting into the 'luggage compartment
At this stage only the main tube is tacked, the elbow isn't. I have read that it is easier to attached the Dog Bowl with a bead of JB weld due to material thickness and sealing issues....we'll see

I wasn't on about sealing the tank - but about welding a tank containing petrol fumes - which I understand is a BAAD thing - is it a brand new tank?jury wrote:Thanks Mark, sladey wrote:Cool and original work as usual Chris. Valid point
The tank has been empty for about 5 years. It has been flushed out and cleaned inside....hopefully that should do the trick. There were plenty of sparks flying when I was cutting the hole, my eyebrows are still intact.

Love the original thoughts and standard of execution. I also really like your idea for headlamp treatment it looks great . The early Hella option Andy suggests is also a great look which I too considered but its a tough call.
I may be copying your idea ( imitation being the most sincere form of flattery)

There are afew pieces on your car I wouldn't mind copying/having
Is it possible to retro fit an early lens into these lights? Does it makes sense to do?
I would like a set of early Hellas, but as usual it all comes down to cost.....
