G'day from Downunder

Post by type550 »

Finally signed up to this site to see another world of Porsches, especially the 550 spyder, which my better half refers to as my sad addiction. I have a replica spyder built by Graham McRae in New Zealand (No 3 of approx 36 builds) which was imported into Oz where I live. I fully restored it but it is still a work in progress while I get a new engine built and get some of the mechanics sorted, but it still drives and looks like a dream.

My therapy is my own website www.type550.com where I have sorted most of my collection of 550 info into one big 'spyder web'. I have just updated it with a blog to keep up with reporting latest events and spyder finds.

I hope to find a heap of new and interesting stuff here and meet some of the characters that lurk here!

thanks Andrew

Welcome Andrew...from a currently UK ex-pat DDKer! Based in Perth but frequently in Melbourne.

My '69 'R' type arrived here two weeks ago and is currently going thru the ADR validation and inspection process at K-tec Autohaus - looking forward to plenty of year round motoring!!

I'll drop you a line next time I'm over in Melbourne...there are a few DDkers over there who seem to be partial to a beer or two

Andrew,

Your car looks great, I love the shape always have. Good website also. How on earth did you get all those photos of the 550's? I have had some correspondence with David Clement Jnr in the states via the Registry forum. do you know of him? He had original ones a long time ago and now has a very nice like yours.

I will post him your website info as I am sure he will find that more than interesting.

There are some clever people doing some nice work. Look at the Steve Wright thread on building a Ali body for his car on here and hope you enjoy the forum.

Hi Roy,

I am a member of the US Registry, but I haven't come across David before - please send him a link to my site and hopefully it might stir him to connect! Do you have a link to Steve's thread - would love to read it

thanks Andrew

Andrew
For the thread Roy mentioned, go to DDK main menu then 356 then Okrasa Special. Warning: Do NOT even think about going there if you don't have an hour or two to digest what is there. By the way, I think it mentions that Steve is a Kiwi, transplanted.
Welcome to the DDK, your photos are inspiring.
Happy Motoring,
Bruce
