Hello to All

Finally, after a chance meeting with Mike "210bhp" who encouraged me to post, I have broken cover and emerged from the shadows.

I have been a paid up member of DDK for around 6 months now and have really appreciated this fantastic resource. I have always hankered after an early Porsche so after much research I settled on a 912 as the best option for my budget and maintenance capability. I bought a 1967 912 in Light Ivory last October. The car is a Californian import, very original with lots of history and I have been spending the last few months carrying out some sympathetic upgrades including:

Repro Fuchs (In Dare I say Chrome, must be the Harley Davidson influence)
Repro Recaro Sports
Momo Prototipo Steering Wheel
Solex Rebuild by Carbex (Although that’s another story!)
Pertronix Ignition & Coil
Optima Battery
Precision Matters Full Flow Oil Filter

The list goes on and on and on.

With a bit more work I’ll be close to having the car I wanted . Here are a few pics, if they work I'll post some more.











Now to check to see they worked.

Glad to see you have broken cover David.

You guys will appreciate that an early car on the road in my neck of the woods is a rare sight, so one Sunday when I was doing my usual run out I suddenly saw this lovely light ivory '911' appear round a corner and couldn't believe my eyes. Thankfully David stopped at the flash of the turbo's lights
('modern Porsche plonker' was probably David's first thought) and we headed back to my house and spent a good hour chatting about all things Porsche. David has found himself a beautiful 912 which is very very original and is a total peach of a car. I took a few photos which I hope you don't mind me posting here David. David's wife Caron seemed to be really passionate about the car too and we agreed to meet up again at a possible mini Scottish meet with some other DDKers. You guys will be well impressed, as I was, with some of the original details on David's twelve.




I hope David and Caron get to enjoy their car and some DDK hospitality in 2011. I know they are planning a European trip in the car this summer so we look forward to some pics from that.

Thanks to all for the welcome, hope to meet someday. I am also hoping for some help from the forum on a particular problem that I have with my RH carb which I have posted in the Tech questions section.

Dougie, that's right, another member in SW Scotland (South Ayrshire)! Where you at?

Mike retells a surreal story. Early cars are a rare sight in my neck of the woods so imagine being flagged down by a modern Porsche (most don't give a second glance) but then to be casually told by the very enthusiastic and clearly knowledgable owner that he had a couple of early cars himself and that I was welcome to come for a look. Imagine then as a "12" owner that one was a RHD 911S (same year as my car) and the other was a 73 Carrera RS (this was now bordering on a wet dream).

We had a great visit to Mike's place where politeness and the fact we had just met prevented me salivating all over the cars and in particular the Alladins cave that was Mike's garage(complete with ingenious two tier car storage).

Quite an unforgettable Porsche memory. BTW, Mike I'd still like to take you up on your offer to try to replace my stolen toolkit.

Looking forward to seeing some more early cars at some of the events this year. Where are the events publicised?

As Mike said, I am up for an informal mini Scottish event.

This car is really nice. Look at all the original details, headlights,wipers,tail pipe,badge,hinges, date stamped spare wheel,rear screen heater tubes,electric ariel etc etc. It's one of the best twelves I've seen. Paint is original at least under the front and rear compartments, arches and floorpan, but not sure about the body (Davie?).

Davie has made one fatal error(sorry Davie). He sold the original and very very nice front seats on eBay due to lack of storage space.

Not sure about the bling wheels (don't you have the original steels Davie?) but otherwise a car up there with the best.

Edit: Andy, did a 12 come with plain chrome overriders or are the rubber inserts correct as an option?
