The Porsche 356 Speedster is an icon. Sadly for those of us from the UK and of moderate means there are said to only be 3 genuine right hand drive Speedsters in the world and no doubt they would sell for well in to six figures, if you could ever find one.
This car is the answer, a superbly finished, thoroughly useable replica from Chesil evoking the style and class of the original but at a fraction of the cost and with robust Volkswagen mechanicals and sensible running cost.
This car was built in 2007 and has been known to us since new. It has covered just 1300 miles in the hands of one owner and has been serviced yearly by a nearby Porsche specialist. As you might imagine, the condition is exceptional.
It is painted in Porsche Meteor Grey Metallic with black Nappa leather seats and a black mohair hood. Options when new include the woodrim rivetted steering wheel, cream dials, heated windscreen, Webasto heater, aluminium gear knob and short shifter, hidden stereo system, inertia seat belts, wind-up windows, front disc brakes, Porsche badging and a black hood cover.
The engine was newly built to 1800cc with twin downdraft carbs and a stainless steel exhaust and provides usefully brisk performance and a period perfect soundtrack.
The car drives brilliantly and would be a wonderful weekend tourer, but is also robust and developed enough to use daily.
It came to us in part exchange against a classic 911, the previous owner falling foul of a growing family and finally admitting the need for more useable rear seats. It will be sold with a fresh MoT and our in-house 6 month warranty.
We doubt you will find a much nicer example.
