Spacers?

Post by Bob_Salmon »

On my 72 S I have a lot of internal corrosion on the alloy castings which bolt between the front brake disks and wheel bolt face - not sure if they should be called spacers or what? They are approx 48 mm deep and I think need replacing.

Is this a common replacement item and is it safe to use second hand items (if I can find some) or do they need to be new.

Advice appreciated.

Sounds like the hub itself. I have just done a light resto on a 72T that had serious corrosion on the hubs, Its fairly common and you can safely replace them with used parts, just make sure you use new bearings.

Thanks Nick - living near the sea the alloy has suffered from the salt atmosphere I guess.
