911 2.2s restoration

Hi,
It has been a while but I fell brave enough to get the story so far of my restoration up on the site. The car is the first RHD 2.2s imported by AFN Isleworth in October 1969 to the UK. It is matching numbers and is signal orange. Besides the restoration I have had to buy a NOS rear engine ally engine lid and rear panel. Find H1 RHD headlights, lens not there yet. and significant parts of the oil system.
Lets hope the first picture works. As they say looks can be deceiving.

The chassis number and shell build number show it is a very early car.

My next post will be the bodywork restoration which is not for the faint hearted.

Please see attached some further pictures of when I had just bought the car. The engine did run and I thought I could run around in it for a while but it was too rusty to pass an MOT.
The car was rallied in its original sport recaros so that was a good point as they were the originals. The engine number is 194 again very early and the fuch spare wheel just visable all date from 6 and 7/69.
What i did not know at the time was that I had had a massive crash in the off side that i think barrelled it end on end down a Irish lane. As many people have pointed out during restorations it is amazing the doors closed and the car drove in a straight line.
Ok Vic I know you cannot wait any longer I will shortly post some pictures of when the car came back from the dippers and the full condition appeared.
I feel I am entering into my car is worse than your car with John.

RHD non-sunroof in S models are very rare. I'd like to know how many were built in each of the following:

RHD non-sunroof
69S
70S
71S
72S
73S

I know how many RHD S's were imported to the UK for each of these years but no idea how many without sunroofs.

I only have a combined figure for the 72/73 2.4 S cars.
The figures I have for rhd S models imported to the UK are;

69S 36 coupes
70S 34 coupes
71S. 44 coupes
72/73 combined figure 144 coupes and 46 targas (1973 was the first and only year of the rhd long hood targa)

This does not include ROW rhd S cars (S. Africa, Australia etc). Quite a few 'dry' S. African 2.4S targas have been brought to the UK because they were so rare here and they did tend to rot more than coupes. There are about 11 survivors.

I have said before that it would be nice to have a list of all surviving 67 to 73 rhd S cars. It is the sort of information which would benefit DDK. There is a website of all known RS cars (rhd and lhd) and all known 64 cars (rhd and lhd) both of which are more numerous than rhd S cars. I have slowly been capturing and saving known S survivors but they are rare, they don't appear often and I only have a fraction of the possible survivors.

Here is the breakout for AFN imports

1972 2.4S - Coupe 77 cars, Targa 4 cars
1973 2.4S - Coupe 58 cars, Targa 47 cars

That is the first time I have heard there were 72 model year rhd targas!
Now, finding one of those would be good.

Ps Is there anyone else interested in setting up threads (possibly stickies) of all surviving S models, 67,68,69,70,71,72,73 with chassis,engine,gearbox,colours, special notes and a photo if available?
This would be something DDK is uniquely in a position to do in a database or spreadsheet type format. I don't have the required skills to set it up.

No the 1972 Targas were all LHD and a 3 of the 1973 ones were as well. AFN imported a smattering of LHD cars each year over the years.

PS The first RHD Targa was NYO 911L which was the Motor Show car.
