I was designing kettles & irons for a well known supplier of such items and driving a 1.9TDi Bora. it was sh*te (the job & the car!).
I haven't even dreamt of owning an early porsche back then.
And I've just realised its 10 years to the month that i left my wife and started a whole new chapter of my life! Thank god i did!

I wasn't grey....and I was thinking about my first car since an abortive top to toe TVR Tasmin restoration ...I even had to scratch build the side window frames on that one. No pics since digital snaps were beyond me then. I remember my usual strip to totality then numerous crisise along the way.
At least it ran ...... ...wonder where it went? it was a vivid banana yellow coupe wedge.

When all the time, your mates are pissing themselves that you drive a Nissan called Sylvia.
The Shame. Went fast though.
Actually I think all this happened 20 years ago,I seem to have lost 10 years of my life.

Ten years ago I was almost living in a van touring the country as a sound engineer for a Bon Jovi tribute band, doing all the things a rock band should do (enough said).
At the time I was driving a B reg 1st gen Rx7 which I still owned until very recently but it was beyond repair so was reduced to its parts by a friend who needed a doner car for a project.
I still have a C reg 1st gen Rx7, I love the cars and the rotary lump

Hi All
ten years ago I was driving my tatty RHD A coupe to work on a regular basis and had lent my A racer to my little sister to drive, she remarked it didn't seem to like going below eighty... The RHD car was sold on and a bit later returned to be extensively rebuilt and the A racer was taken of the road for some work, its still off the road although plans are afoot to rebuild it and sell it to finance family needs...
Here it is.
That 914 that appears earlier in this thread, was it a more kermit green as it looks rather familiar and may have been bought in from San Francisco by my best friend,

In 2001 I was doing my second undergraduate at Nottingham uni, being 26.
The year previously I sold my poo brown '83 924 and got myself a red RHD '83 for here.
In 2001 I was also saving up (being a research assistant when everyone else was recovering from their nights out!) to get my '76 911 2.7 targa reliably on the road. In the summer of 2000 I got my hands on her...
10 years down the line, I find myself with a red '86 924S and a '76 Carrera 3 targa. Nothing much changed here then!
Kind regards,
Bert

Still working at the same company which I part owned at the time and was failing and debt riddled then, oh how things have changed there.
Had just bought my first 356 the summer before and had met my wife to be.
My daily driver was a 3 door big bumpered Golf GTi 16V in black, god how I loved that car!

10yrs ago I was working for a race team in Oxfordshire, driving a 'pikey' spec. Ford Sierra pick-up to work and toyless while lusting after a classic Porsche
Today I work for another race team but now in Italy, don't own a daily driver as I cycle to work, got my 1st toy my Porsche 930 and collecting bits for my 2nd toy.

So 10 years ago I'd just returned from an extended holiday to New Zealand and started my new job with NCR. I'd just picked up a 6-month old BMW 318ci but by mid year had swapped into my first 911, a late Carrera 3.2 with G50 box that I used as my daily drive for the next 2 years.
How quickly time passes!
