911 2.2E restoration

After about twenty two 8 hours days on it, its now stripped and ready for the blasting. Got to say I am just about fed up with scraping, my hands hurt I think I need to man up. I have just about ruined my favourite scraper

Shiny top side anyway! It's all cosmetic

Hopefully not too major a dive, but I've found a little ventilation hole inside the torsion tube just behind the flange the bush sits against. The flange is also all but gone. Not entirely certain how to fix it, but I'm thinking about it.

As for the dodgy areas: I wouldn't worry too much, it's still not so very different to what was expected really. Certainly no problem anyway

Blo*dy hell mate, I'm only gone 4 months and find my car's sister is having surgery! looks like she needs it (so does her sister

) and sure between you and Barry a first class job will result

- one thing though John, where is the rest of the car, there is definitely a lack of piles of parts in those garage pics

Not much progress to show in the last couple of weeks. I have been busy ordering bits before the VAT rise and finishing off cleaning the shell up. Due to a change of blasting company the car will now get media blasted after Barry has completed the metal work, this isn’t ideal for Barry as he will be working with a less than clean shell. To try and minimise the problem I have spent a bit of time getting the worst of the filler and crap off the shell. Now the shell is at its worst I think I will photo each area that will require a repair, there will be quite a few.

Hi John,

I will sort some out, even from the day I got it.

For me it has been a bit of a drama at times, like the day I started cleaning the underseal off, to find the floor was actually like a pair of lace knickers ( full of holes and not much point to them!) This led to a complete new floor, including cutting out and fabricating new sides to the central tunnel. And on it went!

Did the final dry build of the front end today, looks amazing, even if parts are in etch, remains of green and as yet unstripped red!

Just been in the garage today taking photos of all the areas to be repaired. The list is quite extensive and its very surprising that more areas were not externally visible. I have had the car for about 7 years so the repairs have at least lasted that long.

The front suspension pan has been replaced in the past the trouble with it is that it has been attached with a lap joint not a but joint, also we suspect that it may have been attached without the use of a jig so it most probably will be in the wrong place. We will see when Barry attempts to bolt the shell onto the jig.
We will probably end up fitting a new panels in this area.

The front panel has been repaired in the past on both corners, we have a new panel to go in here.

The battery boxes have also been repaired, I have new boxes to go on.
