So I'll preface this with saying I know diddly about the price cycles of classic cars, other than they are cyclic. As they have been on the up for quite some time, they must turn. Just a question of when.

One constant theme on PH for the last few weeks/months has been the prices of 964 turbos which seem to be going up very nicely as have 964 RS's.

Well I hope it all holds together for a while. Come spring, I'll have 3 911s at home and I only have space for 2, so one will have to go. It'll probably be my RS Rep which I will by then have spent 2.5 years finishing and not driving!!

just my twopenneth...v low and sustained rates lead to asset price inflation. The biggest and best investors in the world are busy buying up "real assets" like property, toll roads, airports etc.

I know lots of people fed up with paying fees on their pension, or other investments, for crap & v volatile performance, and now saying, I could park some money in a 72 911 / Dino / 993 RS etc and its a fun hobby and hopefully a store of value...view it like a pension but much more enjoyable

Aside from that 2 things to think about re. classic car values that may have changed vs previous cycles

1. the way that CGT in the UK has gone up to 28% , cgt free (technically "wasting assets" in the words of the taxman) investments like wine and cars are much more attractive

2. Asian wealth effect...plenty of evidence that the emergent rich of China and elsewhere like trophy assets, they like high end brands, and they like stuff with history that they were never exposed to in China. This is why high end Bordeaux prices have powered on to new highs. I think classic cars could be similar.

personally my interest is in having a great car to own and drive ...any price appreciation is the icing on the cake
Megane R26R
Discovery Sport
Defender 110
BMW R9T
Trek Superfly
but sadly no Porsches any more

Facts are facts
If you own a 911 what ever model just enjoy it
If you're looking for a investment as with any time will tell

To those who retail 911 let's see what happens!
All bets taken?

It's good to talk!
