'A genuine UK supplied RHD 1971 Porsche 2.4 911E Coupe, finished in Indigo Blue'.

Seems a little bit odd that there should be mistakes in the first line of an ad from someone like Maxted Page (usually right on the ball).

It would help if the asking price were known but as usual you have to delve into the history of the cars to get an idea of 'value for money'.

Both look well presented but there are areas of concern on the SWB car if you want it 'correct'. Maybe some of the original parts come with the car? However, if you are looking for a genuine early Porsche experience in a very nice period colour swb it could be good. As a comparison a similar car (ground up resto., body and mechanically, just sold in the US for approx $50k. who knows, it could even be this car!).

The blue car is an L plate 73 E. It was for sale locally a couple of weeks back - we saw it and offered on it. It's generally a nice car. The owner told us he'd sold it to a colleague.

The blue 2.4E has sold to a fellow PCGB member. Strong price and didn't take long to shift. Looks like the price of Es are being dragged along behind the Ss.

RS's get out of reach and hard to find, S's are close and nicely available so the prices rise for the good ones and S's go up the cost ladder.
E's will be next and then the T's.

But only the best examples can do this.
But they all need some good magazine coverage to help the hype?

looked at the car ,very nice but paintwork let in down a bit !,i offerd £38k,would of thought just below £40k was the right price,but that was 6 weeks ago or so and the market has certainly levelled since then.

I agree that the paint wasn't perfect, but it still sold quickly, as has my silver one that I mentioned last week.

This honestly is where the prices are!

Only time will tell,but there are warnings signs out there!,and my money is a adjustment in the market,this is also the feelings of the finance underwriters and drop in recent auction prices!.

I understand you must defend your pricing structure,but a gradual rise is far better for everyone rather than a rapid one,which can only lead to one thing!

I don't think Sam needs to defend his pricing structure, his cars sell quickly, therefore he must be doing something right! What worries me is the appearance of buyers that seem to be in the market purely to find an investment. I understand this may the case for the rarified cars like 2.7RSs, 916s and the like, but not for the more run of the mill cars. This is what created the bubble that burst in the late 80s/early 90s. DDKers are a band of enthusiasts that buy their cars to drive and enjoy, not to make a profit (several traders obviously excluded )

Do not wish to enter in protracted correspondence , but as a open forum
It is good to express views,the facts are that as I have stated previously
Finance organisations are concerned regarding pre 73 911 cars and particular the level of s cars,with regard to the source of this all I can say is
That auction prices can be found by the Public,the concerns of values from a funding point of hand is fact!

Only time will tell, but my money is on a levelling and possible drop in values,and as a private funder of a large finance organisation feel Qualified to pass this onto the forum.

Where is this auction evidence of a drop in values of classic 911s?
Market conditions today are very different to 1989/1990.
Values are imo likely to remain strong during this period of very low interest rates.
