1971 911S barn-find, anyone?

The orginal plate on the car was EMU 911J so begin the task of recovering something sim or the same.

Will prob off load the TB plate once MOT'ed in favor of something age related. Be nice to bring EMU back to it, can be done

Disaster!!
Well the update this morning is that I have chased the seller to arrange collection / payment to be told 'I've changed my mind and I've decided not to sell'.....
I'm gutted, Ive been looking for a project like this for ages, got into the emotion of winning for it to be whisked away from me right at the end.
Really disappointed.... if anyone knows of a similar 911S project - let me know! Garry

When the day comes when the registration number can be transferred,

your car should be automatically reunited with it's original registration number as long as this number was not transfer off the car, sometime in it's history.

Given how he drip fed information I wonder if he was price testing all along....... certainly not the most gentlemanly conduct!

That stinks, absolutely gutted for you.

Looks like you have been 'gazumpted' by someone or the seller now thinks he has a £60k car that he can fix up cheaper himself, and make an even bigger profit.

I can see this coming back up for sale pretty quickly, but at what price?

As mentioned, sounds like someone has offered more money outside of the auction !

Surely you've entered into a contract to buy though ? ( not quite sure how this works with ebay though ? )

What a scumbag. I hate people like this. Once it has sold or you agree a sale in any way you should be good to your word - in all dealings not just cars.

Happened to me once. I'd have let it go if it was not for the fact the seller started feeding me a pack of lies continuously saying he had already sold before the auction end and new owner had it etc etc etc - when i knew where it was and who had it in storage!

In the end a number of lawyers letters were sent and he bottled it and sold me the car as agreed. Not sure I'd do it again but i was so mad that this guy thought he could just play me like some sort of idiot that I made a point out of it.

I thought e bay transactions were legally binding. Could be tricky to enforce though. You can destroy his feedback and complain to ebay motors if it makes you feel any better? But it probably wont.

This happened to me with a RHD one owner 67 S that i bought for $15 000 a few years back. It is very distressing and i got lawyers involved but the guy sold it to NZ before i could get my hands on it. Ask yourself whether you want to dig in for a big fight or let it go. Only you know the answer and if you have your heart set on a RHD S in this condition then you won't see many more so roll your sleeves up and dig in....
