If it's 9920 TB then it's an ireland plate isn't it? It's not worth that much. If it's 992 OTB then even less.

Ian.
The registration number is 9920 TB

The number is a Liverpool issued number.

Getting pricey, No one had viewed the car as of monday nite.

Was going to view it yesterday, but surpassed what i wanted to pay.

I have enough piles of rust sitting around.
Around £10,400. is my guess.

Its already at 13! Irish plates have the letters first and then 3 or four numbers?

I bid a couple of times on this to 11K but it's really going sky high. I budget a 25K resto on the car.

Plenty out there done for that!

What did the owner have to say?

He started off not knowing what he had last week and would have sold it off ebay but all the phone calls put paid to that. I just couldn't get a trailer organised in time. He sure knows what he has now though. 20 odd calls yesterday alone.

Regards
Mike

To put your minds at rest, those are not Irish plates, either from NI or Eire
Cheers

He said he would collect me from the station, when i rang back to arrange collection, and to tell him my train times, he said i can send you better pictures. none arrived. Also asked him, how bad where the rust issues up around the rear pillars from the double skinned roof/ sunroof drain tubes, and torsion bar areas

I dont know, i have not looked. he replied.

Laughing all the way to the bank now though.

Warning: Not every barn find is a Myatt1972 (Keith) barn find!

So it costs you £40-50k to restore? What do you have? A restored car at market value and a lot of headaches, stress and extra work along the way

Just playing devils advocate.....a VERY brave man buys something like this off ebay with just the pics shown!! One in ten MAYBE gets lucky. Nine out of ten....

Having just been outbid again I am grateful for Jason's comments above!! It is very easy for a beginner like me to look at a resporation project like this through rose tinted glasses and pay way more than you originally planned!

For what its worth I think he is genuine as the sunroof comments above were a direct contradiction to what he told me so I questioned him a second time about it...

Now I shall quietly beat myself up as my first email with him on day 1 of the auction he suggested I make an offer to finish early when it was at 2400!!

Just passing on my facts. I offered him 8k on monday nite, but he said he will let the auction run its course. Which is only fair. I dont doubt that he is genuine. Nothing to gain from my comments.

Gotta love ebay. The car will find it's true value in the next 5 hours. Will it make £20K is the question?

Ian.
