Dutch guy.

Post by GhostRider »

I'm Jan, aka GhostRider, and I registered quite a time ago, visiting this forum, as a sort of read only member. I think it isn't decent visiting this forum so often, without introducing, so...
I'm from the Netherlands, and I own a '77er 911S US targa (2.7l) which I restored a bit. It's oak green, with chrome trim, stainless hoop, and with original red tartan interior.
A few pics ad random, because I still don't have a complete session of the P in its condition at this moment.

I also own a '69er MG Midget and as a daily drive I use my Alfa Romeo Brera 3.2 Q4, which soon will be replaced by a proper familycar I'm afraid because of my first son (14 months now).

As still doing restorations on de Porsche (small detail things), I hope reading here a lot, finding info, and perhaps I can provide some useful info here as well.

Thanks for your welcome posts!
Indeed, I have a thread on www.porscheforum.nl about restoring the targa, called Sally.
She´s resprayed, partly retrimmed, the fuchs rims got a special treatment in Leverkusen, Germany, all seals are replaced, the USA lighting is replaced, last owner did a rebuild on the engine, SSI heat exchangers are placed, and of course all the jobs to maintain it's condition. The tartan trim was a complete project on its own. I wanted only to use original Porsche tartan, but the red one was quite difficult to find. So I had contact with several tartan shops in Scotland, because the McLachlan Clan uses tartan, which looks like the Prsche tartan, except for one minor stripe. Finally I found a few (actually too expensive) meters of cloth in Germany, and I just bought the whole pice. I'm still glad I made that choise! I like the interior a lot as well...
