Decided I'd better have a good clean under the rear wing where the oil tank goes, ended up removing the quarter bumper and light cluster. Am I very lucky or is it due to build quality that everything comes undone on a car thats 37 years old...

Thanks for the comments guys.
Have now removed the shockers as they were looking scabby, that was easy but removing what I thought was red paint wasnt so easy. It looks like they were plastic coated so when I got a wire wheel on them the plastic just melts and makes a mess. Thinners however stripped it off ok.

I hate waiting for other people, most of the work needed on my car will be done by me, so if it doesnt get done theres only me to blame.
I havnt seen my tinware for what seems an age and its the only thing stopping me putting my engine back in, why does it take sooooo long?

At least I have a picture to remind me what it looks like

Its Derwent Water in the lakes, beautiful spot, I try to get up there every year.

Finally got my tinware and vacuum tank back, its been ages but Im pleased with the results

Have you found a source for your perished hoses? My one from the control unit to the clutch actuator was perished and I replaced with a similar one from a agricultural hydraulic service place. The original is NLA. The one I have works fine but it collapses under the vacuum.

Interesting you should say that Phil, I have been having a right job trying to find suitable hoses with a cotton overbraid. I managed to get some "new" old stock hydraulic hose that looks the part, good for 300psi but probably not good for vacuum, but it was free

I will keep searching.

Nah, you'd be suprised if you ever get into used Porsche ownership! - that thing is like new..

Just clean and oil it and away you go - its ace..

(id swap the sporto for a 915 though but thats just me)
